He was so good he actually managed to convince us Coventry was a quality midfielder as well

When Chalobah played in the 1st 4 matches he helped not only Coventry but all players around him as he can scan 360 degrees, shield the ball and pass to a high standard.

Conor is an all action midfielder but he is an erratic passer and when pushing forward against a skilled Cardiff side gave away so many fouls by running into opposition players.

Skipp and Coventry are both defensive midfielders (6's) and with Carey being an attacking midfielder (10)
the lack of a box to box(8) at this level is stark.

If anyone knows of a hands on medical healer can you put them in touch with CAFC because it's obvious what is the missing link and it's Nathaniel Chalobah who can pick the ball up deep from the defence as well as going on a run to the edge of the opposition box which is the quintessential role that we are missing.

I assume Holsgrove was on the radar though personally I knew little of his qualities or his weaknesses with his lack of a CV in English football.

    Out for the season?
    Starting to wonder...

    NJ said he wasn't injured.

Then it was a "tiny injury."

Then he said he won't be back after the international break.
He also said Koumetio going off at Spurs was "precautionary".

    We haven't seen him since.
  • Unfortunately as soon as the money man wanted out we had to resort to shopping
    in the bargain bin.

He’s free / cheap for a reason - and we will do well to get 10 games a season out of him.

So you don't believe we were ever going to pay around 5 million for Rak-Sakyi with a long contract and a decent wage?

Chalobah's 1 year contract reflected his injury CV over recent years. Nathaniel looks a class above but we need 20 games from him and that's looking optimistic.

Oh we were absolutely at the line and if he hadnt been juggling two agents at the same time maybe, but it was a close enough thing that one issue on a medical and it was too much.

Event with the JRS money (which ultimately didnt happen), its still a collective spend thats childs play nowadays in this league.

any mention of him being back yet? He's the player I think we need most at the moment.

Before the international break it was pretty clear that he was not one of the ones considered to be back when football started again.

I don't think we will be seeing him for a while to be honest.

Louis Mendez doesn't seem to think he's back yet.

Hopefully see him back by Bolton (H) if our top ITKer is correct in the match thread and there’s no setbacks etc.

I'm going to go out on a limb and assume there will be numerous set backs
