Ah - but would you rather they stayed in this division playing thrilling cricket, or plodding along in the division above.......

[cite]Posted By: randy andy[/cite]118-7, kent already have 2 bonus points, so only 6 more points necessary. A draw would hand them the div 2 title, but with the way leicester are playing kent will be keen to wrap up a win in the remaining 2 and a bit days

Northants are 155-6 against Essex so unlikely to get maximum batting points which they will need so all good for Kent touchwood!

    147-9

Yep, Northants are unlikely to get the 400 needed for maximum batting points, and may even struggle to get the 200 needed for the first batting bonus point. That being the case, kent already have 3 bonus points, and only need another 3-4 points to be champions

50-1 at the moment, Rob Key out
  • Talk about going for it - 171 for 3 off 30 overs.

Jones out for 89 off 69 balls including 16 4s and one 6.

    Benning - 5 overs 0-55!!!

With the other results, kent only need 100 more runs in the next 85 overs to win the title on bonus points alone I think (not sure how many bonus points notts have got, so could be 150 more runs if notts somehow recovered their position)
  • Always said it

    SUPERKENT !!

Great Stuff to gain promotion as champions!

We were unlucky to come down in the first place given that we still had a mathematical chance of the Championship with 2 or 3 to play!

Well done Rob and the lads.

I think some strengthening will be needed in certain areas next season (I don't see Phil Edwards opening the bowling in league 1 for instance like he has on occasions this season) but that is a debate for another day...

453 all out, 305 in front with best part of 5 session to bowl out leicester again (took less than 3 sessions in the first innings without having to use Tredwell).

The div two trophy will be presented to the team by the ECB at Canterbury at the close of play tomorrow (Friday). Who's going to be there?

Leicester cruising at 191-0. All academic though, the job is done and Fat Bob has even put himself on to bowl!

Leicester 290-2 at tea. Blake has had a bowl.

    Match drawn.

Leicester declared at 350-2. Northeast had a bowl meaning Stevens (injured maybe) and Jones (wicketkeeper) were the only two not to bowl.

    Kent 177-6 against Gloucestershire.

    Not that it matters.

Key got 50, Jones 44 and Blake is 38 not out. MT Coles is playing and there is no van Jaarsveld. Hockley has replaced him.

    Kent all out 264 Cook 60 not out (10 4s 2 6s)

Gloucestershire 21-0 Bad light stopped play.

I suspect that will prove to be the close of play score in reality.

There are times you have to cast aside your rug and flask stand up and be counted.

    That was one of them.

    Gloucestershire 321-5

MT Coles has taken his first wicket in first class cricket but is going at more than 6 an over!

Tredders needs 1 more wicket for his 200 for Kent.
