What is it about the post-season and the WS specifically that makes for such crazy baseball? Incredible. There's nothing between these 2 teams except that Matheny's had the Midas touch,....so far!. Is Buchholz fit? Sut and Hershsher think not. Could see the Cubbie reject in long relief. Surely unlikely to see Craig again tonight and maybe not at all for the rest of the WS. COYRedbirds
PS Have a great time DamoNS - well, not too great ;o)
Looking forward to Game 4 about to start after a fantastic Game 3 last night. Pity it had to end as it did in a way but the umps definitely got the obstruction call right. Crazy decision by Saltalamacchia to try and throw Molina out at 3rd. If as I suspect Bucholz has a tough night I think the Cards will win tonight and probably finish things off tomorrow. Would like to see the series go back to Fenway however.

Lynn's no sure thing tonight. Could be that long relief is needed by both. Hopefully a game to remember....again.
Yes! Sox win 4-2, series goes to 2-2 and we now know it will be decided at Fenway.
Another great game. Koji wins it by picking off pinch runner Wong for the third out in the bottom of the 9th. Amazing. What Wong was thinking, I don't know. The errors and mistakes running through this series have been astonishing.
Ellsbury made his 2nd error of the series after making only 3 errors all season. Crucial 3 run HR for Gomes, who wasn't even supposed to be playing. Breslow having a stinker of a series, so Lackey came out of the bullpen to relieve - giving Taz more rest - what a team player Lackey is.
Holy cow.....another World Series game, another wacky finish. Carlos at the plate as the tying run and the pinch runner's picked off for the last out. That after Game 3, you couldn't make it up. Only positive for the Cards is that they lost using the weaker elements of the bullpen. "A team" on duty tonight behind Waino. A must win for the Cards surely - couldn't fancy having to win both back at Fenway. COYRedbirds.
...arguably some connection between the wacky finishes of Games 3 & 4. If Craig hadn't re-injured his ankle in the final play on Saturday, he might well have made it to 2nd base last night. Wong would surely still have pinch run but may not have been so aggressive (aka stupid) with a lead at 2nd. Anyhow, well played Red Sox and well played Clay Buchholz for toughing out 4 innings - a deserved leveller. IMO, tonight's game effectively decides the 2013 World Series Champions.
Evening all. Had a simply memorable evening yesterday. In fact, along with 98 @Wembley, the best sporting night I have attended. Two great teams, another unbelievable ending, Doubront and Lackey fantastic out the pen. And Gomes!!! I was stuck in a corporate box full of Cards but it was still great.
Rejoined my family holiday in northern texas and settling down to game 5. Top of the 3rd and we are 1 up. But strange to say that Wainwright looks almost unhittable. Save for one bad ball to Pedroia. Then Ortiz sends him home. But Ortiz is so hot it is laughable at the moment.
Another cracker. As God Bless America rings out at the bottom of 7th we lead 3 1 with the bottom of the order coming up trumps. Not over by a long shot. Holliday, Beltran and Molina due up.......
World Series game 5. Going into the bottom of the 9th. Cards top of the order is up. 3-1 game. Koji steps up. Baseball is awesome. I am about to poo myself.
Excellent tight pitching from both teams. Lester almost perfect and Wainwright, until he got tired, was the same. Maybe not the same standard of crazy as the last few games, but a good game nonetheless. Almost a surprise to see zeroes in the 'Error' column! Interesting that, like with Farrell in game 3, the game was decided by a decision from a manager that didn't work out - this time Matheny. I thought his decision to stick with Wainwright through the 7th was madness, but as before, we all have 20-20 after the event. On to Fenway where the Sox now look favourites, but there's life in these Cards yet. What a series this has been.
Nice one Red Sox. Deserved win again and 2 from 3 at Busch surely seals it. It's one thing winning games 6 & 7 in 2011 at home but quite another for the Cards to do so at Fenway against the mighty Ortiz. With Wacha now a known quantity and so many Cards' bats quiet, it would be quite an achievement to take it the distance. Still, COYRedbirds - give 'em a fright.
Fair play to the Red Sox. I didn't see this coming when the Cards went 2-1 up but they are deservedly taking the lead back to Fenway. Not over yet however, Wacha has been excellent Post Season and if we go to Game 7 anything can happen.
I'm afraid Matheny's luck (perhaps judgement) turned sour in the last 2 games, most particularly paying the price for not intentionally walking Ortiz in the 1st innings with 1st base open and then keeping Waino in in the 7th. Clearly this is Ortiz's World Series. He really is something else, especially coming back to be even better than ever after some less productive spells post-Manny. Apart from being a great hitter, it's good to see how much respect he has for other players (particularly evident with his occupation of 1st base at Busch). Maybe that's the reason the Cards haven't pitched inside more aggressively to him, who knows, but it's a welcome change to see players of both teams playing to the max without resorting to OTT aggro, which could easily have occurred after green-goo-gate and the finish to game 3. In any event, it would be nice to finish with a non-controversial but humdinger of a game.
Guessing all the baseball addicks are tucked up in bed. But I am in Dallas tonight watching and hoping I see us win our first series at Fenway for 95 years.

Year of the Boston bombings and we have the chance to win the World Series at Fenway Park for the first time since 1918.
Gonna watch with my 5 year old son, both in our Sox caps (mine is 17 years old and battered beyond all repair!).
