The Kent Spitfires have been confirmed as appearing live on Sky Sport six times this summer.

Five of the matches will be in the new NatWest T20 Blast competitions, two at home, Essex Wed 11 June, and Somerset Fri 18 July, plus three away, Hampshire Thurs 5 June, Surrey Wed 2 July and Sussex Fri 11 July.

We will also appear in the newly named 50 over comp, the Royal London Cup, at home to Glamorgan on Wed 6 August.

    Darren Stevens out for 23.
    Ben Harmison 47*
    Sam Billings 4*
  • 187-6 off 86 overs. We trail by 37.

Billings latest to go for 13.
Ben Harmison boring them to death with 49* off 185 balls in 207 mins.

Tredders in and to be fair the match is made for his mode of batting but he and the rest of the tail will need to wag.
  • 227-9 a lead of 3
  • 229 all out for a lead of 5. Every little helps I suppose!
  • Close of play - Worcs 41-0 for a lead of 36.
  • Worcs 105-3 for a lead of exactly 100.

    Doug The Rug 10-1-28-2
    Tredders 9.3-0-31-1
  • 112-4

Doug strikes again to give him 3-29. Could end up being one of our best signings for a good while.

  • Claydon strikes 113-5 and a lead of just 108.

Come on the Spitfires finish them off!!!
  • Looks like Worcs have decided to take things into their own hands - scoring 20 off Tredders last three overs.

    146-5 for a lead of 141.

  • 192-8 for a lead of 187

    Bollinger 16-3-34-4

Worcs 270 ao. Took 82 runs to get last two wickets...
    Bollinger 5-43

    Kent need 276 to win.
    15/1 off 4ovs. Northeast lbw 0.
    Key 7*, Bell-Drummond 8*
  • 38-3 Key & D J B-D gone too now. Our batting is just so brittle.
  • 51-3 at close. Another 215 required to win.
  • This is where I reveal (again) my status as Charlton's only Worcestershire fan :D

    BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

  • Another pitiful batting display. 106-7 with five of our top six reaching double figures so far (Billings at 7 is 12*) without managing to kick on.

Make that 106-8 and six of our top seven in double figures and now departed as Billings has now gone for 12.

  • New season, but sadly same old Kent
  • Oh dear. Thanks for the updates, anyway, AA.
  • 140 all out. Lost by 125 runs and we managed just 369 in two innings.

Is pathetic too strong a word?
  • Depressing.
  • At least we did achieve one thing in this match. We equalled the First Class record of LBWs in a match with 12 of our batsmen dismissed in this way.

"Chumley" Northeast seems to be carrying on from where he left off.

The Simon Church of cricket with his inability to score :-)

Sam Northeast is an interesting one if only because my understanding is that he was a prolific scorer of runs as a schoolboy. I don't know the answer and would just ask the question as to whether he is, perhaps, a product of the "bowling machine" (as opposed to natural ability culture) that was/is so prevalent in some schools/clubs?

He was prolific as a schoolboy and indeed when he first got in the Kent side.

I suspect that, like Harriott perhaps, gnarled old pros have sussed him out and he is unable to respond. As yet anyway. Not seen enough of him recently to say that with conviction though.
  • Adam Riley comes in for Tredders for the CC game starting tomorrow against Leicestshire in an otherwise unchanged team.

Two points to be made here - Our Batsmen will need to step up because Cowdrey is banging on the door. And make of Tredders being rested what you will but I would suggest that, perhaps, he is held currently in slightly higher regard by England than he is by his County:

"We have decided to give Treddy some time away from the spotlight of first-team cricket to concentrate on some technical modifications as he re adjusts to Championship cricket after a winter of ODIs and T20s. At the same time we are happy to have young Adam Riley who is bowling well in the team for tomorrow’s game,' stated Adams."
  • Leics 208-7 so another very good bowling performance so far by us.

Meanwhile Tredders is actually playing for the 2nd X1 today and Adam Riley, his replacement in the first team, has 2-14 off 7 overs so far.
