Interestingly, Geraint Jones has gone to Gloucestershire where he will play as a batsman!
Yes my understanding is that he's only going there as a season long four day replacement as Capatin for Michael Klinger who can't re-join them 'til June. He will also help their existing keepers and act as cover in the position.
Whilst the agreement is for the season I can't help thinking that, if by the time June comes around Geraint hasn't got runs on the board, Klinger will take over again.
Wish Geraint good luck anyway - as long as it isn't to our detriment of course.
A little update on my youngest son, Seb, who has been selected for the Kent U12 Cricket Winter Training Squad.
The squad numbers 20 in total and that will be reduced in April to a summer playing squad of 14. Hopefully Seb will once again get the opportunity to represent the County - be it as a batsman, leg spinner or keeper!
Denly from that team returns, Key, Treders and Stevens are still playing and Walker is assistant coach.
But the most amazing thing might be that Malinga went for 44 off his four overs! With Treders going for 22 off two too, the other 14 overs amounted to just 73.
Just sat down with my son, Seb, to watch this. Fantastic viewing especially for Seb as he was only four when this took place and has been coached in the last year by Matt Walker and Geraint Jones who were playing and also Min Patel and Martin Saggers who were on the side.
Can anyone remember why Arafat didn't bowl his allocation ? 2-0-13-2
I think it was because, apart from Treders and Malinga all the bowlers had exceptional figures. Treders only ended up bowling two and Malinga had to come back at the death because he is/was THE death bowler. It just didn't work out for him in those last couple of overs.
Seb had another most enjoyable session at Min Patel's academy this afternoon.
Guest coach was Bexley CC, Kent and England Lions cricketer Adam Riley who was also amongst those to get back in the early hours of this morning from supporting the Addicks.
Excellent experience for Seb to have both these Kent cricketers sharing their knowledge.

Why Sky ever changed SS1 (401), SS2 (402), SS3 (403) etc etc is beyond me!
