MOG - Good to see I'm not the only one happy to get up at 4.00 am just to watch paint dry. Rather suspect that it will be all so different when we bat against their spinners though!
  • ;-)

Just going through 2 days of e-mails...think That is more exciting than the cricket.
  • Kent Cricket ‏@kentcricket
We can officially announce that after 7 years,Rob Key has stepped down as Kent Captain and James Tredwell is taking over for the 2013 season
  • Thanks, MOG .

Will be interesting to see how Tredders does in his new role ( as opposed to Big Rob with his "roll" !)
  • That is a shame about Key, maybe concentrating more on life after cricket, such as media work.
  • that was the moodiest looking game of cricket i've ever seen

sussex looked like they had thrown the game ....unbelievable

the prices on betfair were shocking to say the least

has to be investigated and will (i reckon)

there was 7 times the normal amount bet on that game.... i was a donator ;-(

    €....edited ....

chirpy nearly 16m matched on it , really embarrassing the patterns

sussex were 1.7 (when the first wicket went down when kent were batting) price range  1.55-1.86ish and within 3 more overs they'd been smashed down to 2.5 when kent were tapping it around at 4-5 an over in the first 5 overs, it was so moody

even with 90 required from a hundred odd balls and 6 wickets left sussex should have been odds on and were around 2s

i read a betfair forum last night and there was a fella saying on there lay sussex at 1.7 cos kent will get backed into 1.7 soon and this was in the first couple of overs before what i said above happened
i should have read that during the match

even so sussex price still got in to 1.17 when they flew out of  the blocks 70 odd for 0 with a target of 217 , then there was the ball being  spooned and dropped a couple of times (kent weren't to know !) and sussex went to 84 for 4 !! couple of run outs and stumpings during the "chase" when sussex didnt even require a run a ball

last week kent needed nearly 50 off 32 balls with 4 wickets left and were 1.5ish
sussex needed 48 off 36 balls with 3 wickets left and they were 6.0 !!

i smell a rat and it stinks
i wont be betting on cricket for a while or if i do i'll watch for moody patterns and get on it !
let me know what the fella at bf says chirpy

Supporters will note the absence of any confirmed fixtures in Beckenham at this stage. The Spitfires’ Friends Life t20 clash with Surrey on Sunday 30th June is listed as venue to be confirmed. This is due to potential building works taking place at the Beckenham ground during 2013. A decision on whether it is practical to hold this match at Beckenham will be made in due course.

Comedian Bevan named Kent County Cricket Club's president
    Monday, January 14, 2013Sevenoaks ChronicleFollow
COMEDIAN Bob 'The Cat' Bevan is to be Kent County Cricket Club's president for 2013.

Bevan is well-known as an after-dinner speaker, author and television radio personality, who has frequently appeared on Channel 4's 'Countdown', with Sir Terry Wogan on 'Aunties Bloomers' and presented BBC Radio 5's 'Six-O-Six' show.

TV and radio personality Bob Bevan is to be Kent County Cricket Club's president

Before becoming an entertainer, he also had a highly successful business career.

Bevan has been a great supporter of the county club over many years. He first got involved with Graham Johnson's benefit year in 1983, and has been supporting and speaking at club events and players' benefits ever since.

Bevan is believed to be only the second person from the world of show business to become president of a county cricket club, the other being Sir Richard Stilgoe at Surrey in 2005.

"I still can't quite believe it, as it was not something I had ever considered I could be eligible for.

"I was overwhelmed when I got the call from current president Mike Denness, and remain in that state of mind. When I look at the legends, who have gone before me, I find it even harder to take in."

Bevan was born in Dulwich, south London, in 1945, and attended Wilson's Grammar School in Camberwell just down the road from the Oval, where Surrey CCC were winning their record seven successive County Championship titles.

However, he always had an affinity with Kent, and moved to an oast house just south of Tunbridge Wells 19 years ago.
  • Very funny speaker is Bob, shame he's a Palace fan!
  • Matt Coles (and Ben Stokes) sent home from Lions tour due to breach of discipline. Silly boy.
