  • I thought Iron Man 3 was great but the first one edged it.
  • Went to see Into Darkness on Thursday night, excellent! Really enjoyed it and probably the best use of 3D that Ive seen to date.

Just shows how people see things differently. I agree the film was excellent but the 3D was very forgettable for me ( too dark ) and as in most cases in modern films , totally unnecessary.
  • Watched 'The impossible' last night. Very good I thought. Puts your emotions on a real rollercoaster.Shows the power and devastation of the boxing day tsunami to great effect.
I defy anyone not to get their heart strings pulled at some point.

Agree that 3D is a waste of time, but it's the projectionist that's to blame for the darkness. I saw it on IMAX, which looked incredible. Although it would have done in 2D as well.

Went to see Iron Man 3 , not going to spoil it for anyone who has yet to see it, but if you watched and liked the first 2 it's worth a watch, 7-8 out of 10.
  • Not a new film, but Sightseers was brilliant - watched it again a couple of days ago. Great film.

I didn't think they had projectionists any more.? In the multiplexes anyway.
  • Rather, the set up of the projecting system in many cases is not correct, so I've read. Although I've never, ever seen a requisitely bright 3D movie outside of imax.

Treated Mr F to an afternoon viewing of this one and thoroughly enjoyed it .

  • Nice one Fan!
  • Saw the new Star Trek film. Enjoyed it some nice nods to the old films.

Saw Star Trek last night. I thought it was brilliant. The story was excellent, cast, effects great 10/10 for me (bit of a Trekkie). Even non/new Trekkies would love it.
  • Star Trek is on my list of films to see, so good to hear good reviews, has anyone seen fast and Furious 6 yet?
I know there a bit cheesey and predictable, but normally good to watch if you want to disengage your brain at the door.
  • Saw (most of) The Great Gatsby on Friday.

Dozed off shortly after the start for a few minutes - first time I've ever fallen asleep in a cinema.

The rest of it was OK as per most of the reviews, and DiCaprio was good in the lead role.

How'd it compare with the book?
  • The hijacking. Fantastic film.

    Really don't fancy this .

Yes a really well thought out film considering the content....not too sentimental either. Found myself gripping the seat arms during the Tsunami sequence.

  • Last weeks film was "The Company you keep" Yet another well directed film by Robert Redford....stellar cast and interesting and well told storyline. Impeccable acting performances throughout albeit Redfords character seemed way too old to have an 11 year old daughter...the only flaw in an otherwise excellent film.

Not as good, unfortunately - but then again wasn't expecting it to be.

this does look like a good one
  • I took my 7yo daughter to see Epic on Saturday. Very good indeed. Well worth a watch if you've got kids.
  • The Place Beyond The Pines. The best film i have seen so far this year. 10 out of 10

  • Went to see The Fast & the furious with my son , he really really enjoyed it , i enjoyed the maltesers more.
  • Definitely not a "latest film" but just watched " Forrest Gump" again on Film 4 and sitting here blubbing like a baby..

A clever, simple but heartwarming film that really hits the spot ( plus the great tracks featured- what memories they invoke !)

I know life isn't black & white but at this moment in time, I think the Fab Four had it right.

    All you need is love.

Dry yer eyes now, Fanny. Bedsaddick (above) gives The Place Beyond the Pines 10/10, a mate of mine is raving about it, and there are glowing reviews elsewhere....

Hmmm, might see if this is still showing locally , thanks.

  • Saw Fast and Furious 6

Was all that I expected 7/10
    The Rock saved the franchise.

    Although spoiler alert...

The Japanese guy from Tokyo Drift that was the main characters best mate only died in 2013 yet that movie was made in 2008 and he died in that? Not sure they can do a Letty revival there!
