I work in a very touristy and rich area. So names like Craig McLachlan, John Wood, Kim Gyngell (col'n carpenter) spring to mind. One time (and I missed it) Mahendra Doni Singh was nearby. I missed it but it was not missed by a workmate from Calcutta!!!

Rereading this I realise I didn't mention the late and much lamented Sir Norman Wisdom.

I have a photo of me as a small boy, sulking because I hated (still do) having my photo taken, next to him.

I had my photo taken with Elle MacPherson once, it was at Surfers Paradise in Australia. Then I realised Alas it was a cardboard cut out!

Not a name that many on here will recognise but, in 1970 (and courtesy of my Godfather) I spent the day in the company of Florian Albert in Budapest. He took me for a tour of the National Stadium and for lunch afterwards.

Oh, yes, he was joint top scorer in the 1962 World Cup and European footballer of the year in 1967 and in terms of stature, achievement and style of play I would liken him most, in the modern era, to Davor Suker of Crotia.

As a starry eyed 10 year old it meant a lot to me at the time anyway!

In my Mind (sportsman)= I played golf with Steve Redgrave & Matthew Pinsent and have met Jonah Lomu & Geoff Hurst before
In my Mind (Political world) = I am having lunch with (ex)President de Klerk in January which I am pretty excited about.

In his mind = Alan Pardew (about 1 month he took over at Charlton...I thought he was great, then I met him and thought he was an arrogant knob - just shows first impressions when you actually meet someone are often right.

Yes Addick Addict, us oldies are bound to remember Florian Albert, the last of the great Hungarian superstars. His performance against Brazil
was considered the most outstanding of the 1966 World Cup.

Have met a number of celebrities in my lifetime, the best known (British audience) would be :
Walt Disney - bruv-in-law business associate
Duke of Kent and Aga Khan - was in school with them
In a different world, monitored by his bodyguards, I used to play chemin de fer with Peter Rachman in a Wardour Street casino a few days before he got
murdered. I swear it was not me.

I met Joseph Heller in 1998. Sadly, he died the next year.
    Unbelievably modest and pleasant man.
The person I feel most privileged and proud to have met.

    Legend.
