    True
  • Chris Kamara aka Cabanga, who goes to more games then most, was in the crowd for the England game and he said they were pissing all the England fans off as they either couldnt hear the band or only a small section of fans could start songs as they didnt travel to the rest.

    True

Whilst I agree with the sentiment, we'll see how popular it is when someone blows one of them in your ear at the Valley for 90 minutes. My guess is you'll be more than a little irritated. Chanting over that type of plastic support everytime for me.
  • I might buy one...

And shove it up your ass ...hopefully!!

LOL It's a long way down those stairs mate from the top of H Block :-)
  • [cite]Posted By: floydandharvey[/cite]Sainsburys sell them. They ordered 75,000 of the things, so there will definitely be a few at the valley next season.

not within arms reach of my seat there won't...;o)
  • I like most others don't mind the odd blast here and there and appreciate the custom and integral part of the Serth Effrikan football scene...that's 'not' the point....it's continuous and for what reason...I just don't get it sorry. There's no change in the pitch or tone...it's like an interogation torture...no escape in fact.
To liken it to samba music(which someone did earlier) is ridiculous, samba music isn't a repetitive continuous sound...it varies and has different songs which is clearly music....it's not simply an unfathomable wall of irritating sound.
  • Surely have a handful of people with them at The Valley wouldn't be a problem? They would probably be used along with the drum. Its when there are 40,000 that it becomes a non-stop noise.

Either way the novelty will wear off and if anyone has one at the start of the season (which I doubt) there will be none around by September.

  • I tell you what, next season I'll bring my chainsaw along with me to The Valley. It's only 106db, even less than these vuvuzelas, I'll rev it continually for 90mins and claim it's part of my culture and tradition of supporting the team.
  • We could always get hundreds of local chavs to ride their 'hairdryer mopeds' around the outside of the pitch, creating the same awful racket....
  • I have to put in my 2 cents worth........

There rubbish, total rubbish.... ruining everything, Im furious, dont like them....

    rubbish...
  • Imagine the racket we could make if we all hit our Thermos flasks together!

Yes, you do that. Good point, well made.

Make sure you also dance around and show that you are having a jolly good time.

Just had 10 of us do it when the bosss walked in great fun
  • Whats more annoying for me is the BBC coverage, the way that Hansen and Lineker show scant respect for the 'unfashionable' countries in the tournament and seem to think it's about 4 or 5 teams and thats it including the 'mighty' England. The general whingeing from these two is tiresome. Frankly- if they are not interested in the tournament they should feck off back home. Most people would give their left arm to do the job they are doing and would probably do it with more enthusiasm. These two bore me with their jaded attitude far more than the horns!
  • do not abuse Gary Lineker in any way please Pilchard!!!!!

They do already. Sky buggers around with the fixtures to put matches on at stupid times at short notice to suit the armchairs. They also do that crappy anthem and line up before the start of Prem matches to allow the armchairs to see who's playing.
  • If these things turn up in SE7, expect at least one murder at the Valley next season!

    But they're right, aren't they?

Only 5 teams have won it since England.

Maybe one of those 4 or 5 teams will win the World Cup but the essence of it for me is seeing the many teams in the tournament and I find it enjoyable to see a team like North Korea give Brazil a decent match or Paraguay nick a point off Italy. It seems the BBC panel give little respect to the 'lesser' nations of the tournament who for me add very much spice to it. It takes all the nations to make an enjoyable tournament in my view and not just the ones we all expect to win.
  • the horns are starting to do my head in. Sounds like a constant swarm of bees buzzing around. Would be ok if the South Africans used them at their games only but it's starting to get to be a joke. Even if the other fans used them but only intermittently it''ll be better but it's constant. Interesting that South Africa have banned them from rugby and cricket matches.

Nothing, but watching his goals for England got me into football. my footballing idol is Lineker!!
  • That's very nice for you Gary, whilst he was a good player I personally am not a fan of his Tv style. Just an opinion of course!!
  • my first comment was tongue in cheek mate, you can say what you like about him!!!...always be a ledge to me.
  • I know that! and thanks. I always prefered Kenny Dalglish myself.
