If that had happened at Charlton, i know exactly what would happen. There would be silence, because we would all be in shock, and not needing to act all bertie big bravado in front of our mates. While the person is laying motionless on the floor, if anyone tried to start derogatory songs (which would only be the 14/15yr olds at the back of the NU), they would have been shouted down. The difference here is this isn't the kids finding it funny, but the mid life crisis i'm a pwopa geezer brigade.

We're fundamentally different from that lot, we haven't got the same amount idiots and we certainly haven't got the same amount of herd mentality wannabees. You might think serves him right, but you wouldn't make songs about it.

I wouldn't say people were "rejoicing" Afka. Nice use of language though.

The man's head was smashed like an eggshell and it was replayed on the big screen to whoops of joy from the north kent lacoste gang. Don't deny it Sparrows, if he hadn't of pulled through it would have gone above the death of the Leeds fan in Turkey as the greatest day of your life.

When the PA announcer started playing Kriss Kross Jump I thought that was beyond the pale.
  • Do be a fall all your life!

Those in glass houses shouldn't throw stones. Your club are pushing us hard for scummiest in London, what with your fighting on the pitch at Hillsborough and pelting Paddy Kenny with glass bottles.

Bloody hell - its' a rash - first there's a mild but persistant irritation which actually can be quite fun just to pick at for a bit but before you know it, if you don't just apply the cream at the outset, you've allowed it to fester until there's a whole array of other pests and parasites niggling away at you. This thread was the Charlton Life equivalent of athletes foot but now it's picked up some thrush as well.
  • Palace weren't fighting on the pitch at Hillsborough? Where did you get that from??

    They were getting beaten up!
  • Come off it, I thought we were all Nigels!

The truth is a few of our lot went on to the pitch and took a few slaps. Hardly what you’d call fighting. And yes there were a few morons who threw plastic bottles at Paddy Kenny, which was totally wrong. I hope they’re caught and punished.
But you’re mob have quite a record don’t you think. And many of your fans positively revel in that image. Anyhow, that’s the way it always was and always will be. We can discuss this for ever and it will never change.

I'd put Palace just ahead on the acts of cowardism stakes - you're both a bit tasty with throwing bottles at footballers but they have a far more recent incident involving a gang (of windowlickers, but a gang none the less) attacking innocent families on a train. Although Millwall have also attacked innocent families in the past, the recentness of the palace attack and the extraordinary planning that would have gone into it, for me, sees them as the winners.

I know what your thinking - laughing at a brainless taff who could have broken his spine should merit something but my decision is final.
  • Talksport last night about 7=50pm ish.
millwall supporter said his 11 year old son was so upset after the Cardiff guy fell.
The old bill & stewards could do nothing about the "Let Him Die" chants because "they're not using abusive language".
Son says to Dad "I don't want to go back there again".

Not saying this happened or not, but the emotion in the "Dad's" voice made Me believe it.

Sorry SLL, I'll admit that Palace have a few fans who have been an embarrasement to the club recently, but to suggest that that they're even close to the scummish element at Millwall is ridiculous.

By all means carry on defending your club, but don't try and suggest that Palace have come close to the incidents that Millwall have done.

Palace fans have may have thrown bottles at Kenny recently, but those that did were rightly condemned by the majority of Palace fans, indeed they were then ridiculed by Millwall fans for daring to try and identify them. However when Millwall fans are caught in trouble, all you ever hear is either celebration, or its not our fault, its the media.

Oh, I forgot palace fans don't do sarcasm.
  • [cite]Posted By: CAFC_Connor[/cite]Well in my opinion Millwall fans are not scum, Palace fans on the other fans are. They always have been and always will.

Connor, I'd love to see your definition of scum.

Connor, I'd love to see your definition of scum.

    a) ambushing opposition fans who consist of men, women & children wearing shirts & scarves

    http://www.wharf.co.uk/2008/10/last-palace-train-thugs-found.html

    b) outnumbering opposition fans by 15 to 2 and bullying and beating them up

    http://www.yourlocalguardian.co.uk/news/local/croydonnews/8181928.Police_hunt_remaining_fans_after_football_punch_up/

    c) again, outnumbering and bullying a single man and his young son in a pub toilet and kicking him unconcious

    - link removed from Holmesdale site where your fans admitted to this

We may say & sing a few nasty songs, we may be keen to smack a rival mob in the chops, but we don't make regular occurrences of picking on & hitting innocent men, women & children.
  • Sorry SLL, but I've witnessed your lovely fans first hand.

I remember going in 94 on New Years day, when you beat us 3-0, and the lovely walk back to the station with my 9yr old son getting spat on, by men in there 40's.

You may like to believe the myth that Millwall only cause trouble with like minded fans, and they never give grief to scarfers, but I'll believe what I've seen.

I never said I believe that "myth" did I. So where did you get that from?

As for your experience, I'm glad to say that I have never seen that happen and not aware of it happening much at all. No doubt there are some scum who still behave like that, (Scunthorpe in the play off final had some right pricks who turned up for a day out), but week in, week out, it very rarely happens.
  • It's not really beyond anyone who has been to either either away game in the last 20 years Is it .

Never felt intimidated anywhere near Shithust and the ground and surrounding area means we turn up in numbers - especially when we were at "at home". The Penge incident was wrong though.

The old den was more fun as an away fan than the new one and our recent trips there have been during poor spells (aside from the snow) so we haven't had the chance to have fun really.

Millwall fans are generally violence seeking idiots and more lately more comical but I wouldn't want to be stuck in a lift with one.

Palace fans are just wank - ultras?

  • Sparrows mate. I have no problem with you being a regular visitor on here, genuinely. You post sense some times that I agree with, other times rubbish that I don't. Just like the rest of us do. BUT you have a real problem recognising that your club has a large and very unpleasant, violent and nasty element to it that is very much in the minority in most clubs but especially ours.

TBH that's probably to be expected to an extent as you are a Spanner after all, but it really does you a disservice to keep kidding yourself that your club is no worse than any other. It is, it always has been and in likelihood it always will be, precisely because it will appeal to that element. The fact that you cannot see why some of us are appalled that a large % of your crowd found the recent event funny suprises me given your other posts to be fair.

Maybe it shouldn't have though given the blind spot that you clearly have when it comes to seeing your fans for what many of them are. Equally, please don't expect those of us who've been on the end of the treatment dished out regularly over the years to agree with your point of view when our own experience of your clubs support, even as scarfers if you like, is very much negative overall.
  • Sparrow, we all know that Millwall have more scummy fans than most but there are also real decent supporters at the Den as well.
Trouble is I'm not surprised that apparently many Millwall fans gloated at the poor Cardiff bloke. Agree with AFKA that Charlton fans would have treated him with shocked respect.
I don't think the Nigels would have burst into song either.
    You guys take the biscuit.
  • just back from a most encouraging game to read Palarse and Millwall fans having it large on our pages - great stuff lads - keep it up!

Where do I fail to recognise it? We've got a support that either has a lot of blokes that are involved in football violence or has people that are more than willing to put their hands up if they are fronted. We've also got a minority who are wannabe bullying mugs. Can argue all day long about why this is the case, I'd suspect my reasons and explanations are more accurate than yours seeing as I have more experience than you. But I'll happily admit there are reasons/explanations held by some on here that are valid as well, just not to the extent that some believe.

I have never once said we're innocent angels and if you think my sarcastic posts above about Palace pushing us close to being the naughtiest mob in London were serious then you need to review it again!!

Anyway, don't wanna keep this thread at the top of the board on an evening when you've just gained a valuable point....& hopefully dented Southamptons chances of automatic, the arrogant deluded mugs.

Every time this thread pops up on the left hand side of the page I think, "Aw Gawd, not that thread again. What twat started that?"

And the answer is always the same, "Dunno, I've got Alzheimers so why are you asking me - you schyzo freak!"

(PS. Before anyone gets offended that was just a joke, a bit of banter ............ I think. Not sure now. What was the question again?)
  • If they had sung 'Sheep fell over' I may have laughed....
  • [cite]Posted By: CAFC_Connor[/cite]Taking the mick out of Alzheimers is abit out of order.....bloody thug, and falconwood_1 same to you, trying to come up with songs now about the poor sod...be ashamed of yourselves.
'Bloody thug'? After you've been spewing crap for a few days you can't really have a go at anyone else on this thread can you? Give it a rest.
  • fuck me this still going on
  • Stone me!
  • They say football is like a religion, and in churches they sing hymns. The regular singing tends to solidify the belief of the faithful, and communal singing brings comfort that everybody else feels the same way.
At Millwall they (every match?) sing 'No one likes us, we don't care.' I dunno, the words can be seen as some kind of post modern, ironic take on a beleagured mentality, and a beleagured status and situation, or can be seen as we don't give a f*ck, we'll do what we want, be how we like, and if you object...we don't care, you can eff off.
Now if other fans throw sections of our crowd singing 'build a bonfire' or 'the Adams family' at us as evidence of something, then equally 'No one likes us' is also evidence of something.
Fans at Charlton are much less inclined to join in with 'Bonfie' and 'Adams' than with 'VFR', however it seems from a distance that all at Millwall join in lustily with 'NOLU'. If my earlier theory has any credibility, the the Millwall faithful re-visit and strengthen the rather negative siege mentality mindset each match when they sing their song.
The reason I think it is a shame to some extent is that my father was a Millwall/Charlton regular, there are loads of excellent Millwall fans when you get talking to and get to know them, and you then wonder why so many surrender to the mob mentality so frequently.

Here is a pretty little song for Millwall to sing:

    #I'm a Wallflower, I'm a Wallflower
    #I'm a Wallflower, here's my scent
    #And the Den's a blooming garden
#So oh oh oh lets be friends ;-)

SLL as you come across as a good bloke on here, would you like to try to introduce that little ditty at the Den?
