  • [cite]Posted By: CAFC_Connor[/cite]Can't argue with that one seth plum ???? Bullshit baffels brains ?????? I didn't get a word of that.

If you sing something over and over again it seeps into you, thats my point.
  • [cite]Posted By: seth plum[/cite]They say football is like a religion, and in churches they sing hymns. The regular singing tends to solidify the belief of the faithful, and communal singing brings comfort that everybody else feels the same way.
At Millwall they (every match?) sing 'No one likes us, we don't care.' I dunno, the words can be seen as some kind of post modern, ironic take on a beleagured mentality, and a beleagured status and situation, or can be seen as we don't give a f*ck, we'll do what we want, be how we like, and if you object...we don't care, you can eff off.
Now if other fans throw sections of our crowd singing 'build a bonfire' or 'the Adams family' at us as evidence of something, then equally 'No one likes us' is also evidence of something.
Fans at Charlton are much less inclined to join in with 'Bonfie' and 'Adams' than with 'VFR', however it seems from a distance that all at Millwall join in lustily with 'NOLU'. If my earlier theory has any credibility, the the Millwall faithful re-visit and strengthen the rather negative siege mentality mindset each match when they sing their song.
The reason I think it is a shame to some extent is that my father was a Millwall/Charlton regular, there are loads of excellent Millwall fans when you get talking to and get to know them, and you then wonder why so many surrender to the mob mentality so frequently.

Here is a pretty little song for Millwall to sing:

    #I'm a Wallflower, I'm a Wallflower
    #I'm a Wallflower, here's my scent
    #And the Den's a blooming garden
#So oh oh oh lets be friends ;-)

SLL as you come across as a good bloke on here, would you like to try to introduce that little ditty at the Den?

Our "excellent" fans love it just like everybody else does.

I hate Millwal and I hate Millwall,
I hate Millwall and I hate Millwall.......

    It works!!

They're our local enemy......we're supposed to hate them, they just make it so easy for us to do
  • [quote][cite]Posted By: nolly[/cite]fuck me this still going on[/quote]

[quote][cite]Posted By: CAFC_Connor[/cite]Taking the mick out of Alzheimers is abit out of order.....bloody thug, and falconwood_1 same to you, trying to come up with songs now about the poor sod...be ashamed of yourselves.[/quote]

    Thanks Connor.
  • [cite]Posted By: JimboCAFC[/cite]Just because a team is close to us we are suppose to hate them? thats actually a load of bollocks look at Forest and County their grounds are divided by a small river and you don't here anything about them and if we could in straight lines everywhere then our local rivals are really West Ham and there is nothing on here about them on here about how they have also had a long history of hootball hooliganism...Yes we are closest to Millwall but our derby day isn't as bad as others yet people on here hate them with a passion which i believe are pathetic reasons.

    Fair point.......let's keep a balance.
    I hate West Ham too........

Jimbo let me put it to you in simple terms when we play chelsea , palace, west ham or whoever there is potential for aggro and trouble cos they have helmets looking for it
But when we play the scum there is a higher potential for trouble cos they have a larger percentage of idiots looking for it
I have 3 young sons and when they're old enough to go to away games with me i will think twice about taking them to the scums ground

I mean nearly every time we've played them there's their helmets looking for trouble .....
If there was a bigger percentage of helmets at west ham or palace or wherever and I'd received grief at those places then my feelings would be different

    Fans at Charlton are m
County consider Forest their biggest rival, Forest don't care for them.
  • I don't hate millwall - i have good local rivalry type banter with loads of their fans though and their's is always the first result i look for in the hope that they lose. If they were to go out of business it would have a massive positive effect on us and vica versa - not so Palace or West Ham.

& yet there seems to be more violence at Palace/Charlton games than Millwall/Charlton games, especially as there are a lot of mutuals between us two.

  • not what i've found sparrows and this is over 34 years of following charlton
  • i would personally bring my girls to millwall away if they want to go they go.
  • Same here - if my boys want to go with me in future they can - i've been going to football since the early 80's and have never once come to any harm - if you've got your head screwed on, you should be fine. I think a few Palace 'scarfers' and kids got it when they came out of the dena few years ago and you are always going to get the odd idiot who will do that but generally speaking those who go to football for the fighting aren't looking to pick on kids and 'scarfers' but if you've just smashed them 4-0 at their place your tempting fate a bit if you walk around clad from head to toe in your colours. it's just the way it is and a bit of common sense is needed, thats all.
  • I (again) have to agree with SLL you hear of more Charlton / Milwall cross-over fans than Charlton / Palace.

Distinction you've made there is between "lads" who 99% of the time are looking for like minded fellows, and then there are bully boy idiots who pick on innocent people for reasons only known to them and for the "bigger" games, a few more of them do tend to turn up.
  • Just had a look at this and I have to say I agree with SLL that there's some hypocracy on here. Anyone who hasn't heard the covered end revelling in Wheels of the Bus hasn't been going to the Valley long. Someone died in that incident, here we're feigning shocked horror because they sung a song about some hapless character breaking two fingers. Football fans get involved in occasionally offensive banter, that's the way of things, the game's been sanitised enough let's not be silly about this.
  • anyone see Nathan Ellington's twitter posts last night?

"Never seen a more racist and abusive crowd as I saw today at millwall! #disgracetothehumanrace"

"major abuse while warming up non stop, kids in crowd aswell but they don't care. Monkey noises and Calling me a theif, all players abused"

nice bit of that passion and entusiasm eh Kenny?
  • Aw, it's just "football banter". I mean, if you can't spout racist abuse and make monkey noises, laugh at a bloke falling out of the top tier and mock the murder of two football fans and a number of prostitutes at football then where can you?
  • The dockers? what from bexleyheath and bromley..
  • JimboCAFC at a Millwall game?

  • Jimbo what the hell were you doing watching the scum play?
Surely you are a millwank fan.
And don't stick up for them, Nathan Ellington wouldn't post that to twitter if it wasn't true.

These chumps are the scum of the entire UK and they always always will be.

SLL- Gis a laugh, and try and defend yourselves this time.
  • Jimbomfc see you later never in my lifetime have i gone and watched the shite play when charlton weren't there.Laters Jimbo
  • It was during the warm up from a few individuals. Just because you didn't hear it, doesn't mean it didn't happen. I would doubt very much that he would make something like that up.
  • If there are false accusations of that level then it is only right that somebody steps forward to correct it. The fact that it was a player who is raising these issues says to me that you may not be aware of all the goings on. There may not have been any racist abuse aimed towards the upper away end but then you wouldn't have heard if it was at a player warming up closer to the lower tiers.

But...you shouldn't have been there to witness any of it in any case.
  • [cite]Posted By: nolly[/cite]The dockers? what from bexleyheath and bromley..
    Exactly!
  • Bit harsh having a pop at the fella for going to Millwall. He was in the away end, perhaps with mates who support Preston and besides, we had a double interest in Preston's fortunes yesterday. It isn't like he was wearing a blue shirt with lion facepaint on is it?

As for the racist comments and abuse Ellington suffered, I have no doubt it happened, putting any prior judgement based on anti-Millwall sentiment aside, he quite simply has nothing to gain from making it up does he?
  • Away end at Millwall or away end at The Rovers Robbery Show? When he first pops up saying "I was there" initial reaction is, why? He couldn't make the Bristol trip, fair enough but Preston don't need your support. They have Preston supporters for that. If you wanted to watch football because you missed our game it was on the t.v.
  • I have no doubt they were. What was the attendance? From what I saw on the box it was fairly empty.
  • Was surprised at how empty it was considering they are pushing for a p/o spot.

No chance of a riot with 250 Preston fans hence the normal gate. They only get full houses when there is a good chance of a punch up, ie Leeds and qpr
