I'd say he had the best positional sense and was the most intelligent defender we'd had in years, that was his major strength for us. Regularly reading play and intercepting balls, breaking up attacks, rather than being a "hard man" defender who got stuck into tackles, his game was all about reading the opposition's attacks and breaking them up. He was also imperious in the air. Also, the guy is a surprisingly great crosser of the ball for a player of his ilk.
We had one of the best defences in the Championship in 2009/10 and our success that season was built around our defence and all that was largely down to the Hobbs and Morrison. I watched him for 2 1/2 years at both League One and Championship level and the guy was an excellent defender at both this level and the one above it.
Sounds good, let's hope he can forget his Wednesday time and get back to that. No reason not to being only 23
Really pleased reading the pieces from the Leicester FM guy, Morrison has proved himself in this league before but perhaps has a point to prove after the last year but Powell knows him well and it is another defender so all good.
Not sure what this means for more new defenders, still possibly need one more CB (dependent on Dailly's contract situation) and maybe another RB when Francis goes.

Sounds good and trust Powell's judegement but Francis had won promotion from this division before dropping back into it.
Are you sure about that?
yep
Francis was brought in by Southend on 13th June 2006, the summer after their promotion from League One as champions. He played 41 games for them during their relegation season (06/07) in the Championship.
About Morrison, I have a good feeling about this signing. Think he could be a rock for us at the back next year. Powell obviously knows his strengths and weaknesses and how to get the best out of him.
Well if someone comes in in the next week or so that plays at RB, it would be safe to assume that Morrison will be playing at CB, I would have thought.
That's good to hear, Talal. I prefer the idea of him playing CB as well, given that he is the sort of player to proactively break up play - he would pair up well with a less mobile CB, who could hold the fort behind him.
Personally I'd want a bit more physicallity in our center halves. But as a I can never recall seeing him play, though I watched Leicester in his couple of years there, I have no idea about this guy. However when we had Borrowdale it was a joy to watch the only full back we've had since Luke Young who understood that when the other team counter attacked...... It might be a good idea to tuck into your center halves and not leave massive gaps that any halfwitted sod could wander into. So it'd be wonderful to see a full back who did the basics like Borrowdale, whilst actually being able to assist unlike Borrowdale.
If we play with a pacey attacking full back one side, someone who can read the game and make a decision when to break and when to hold is a must on the other side. Let's face it how many wingers are quality in League One? But if you defend with huge channels that two center backs are easily sucked into then any team can counter you at some point in the match; half the time we had Sodje, Docherty, Llera or Fortune out of position anyway due to the midfield missing or their own limitations.
Anyone any idea how much he cost? No doubt on a top league one wage.
The fee is undisclosed but Wednesday are thought to be recouping much of the £250,000 that Morrison is believed to have cost them when he was signed from the Foxes in January.

A cultured defender then who gets stuck in & is 'imperious' in the air.
Have we signed the right player?

nananananana Micheal Morrison Morrison Micheal Morrison (In the tune of Baby give it up)
personally I'm ready to nominate him as scapegoat. If francis and mccormack go we'll need a new one.
: - )
Although he was good at Leicester it does seem that his career has slightly stumbled recently.
Are you sure that Powell wanted him?
;-)
Guess it all depends on whether CP sees him as a RB or CH
At CH he would seem to compliement Taylor.
