They refused to show the Charlton game on Sky yesterday. Said you should go to the ground if you want to watch it. Showed West Ham instead.

    That's actually fair enough

Usual shit beer in there yesterday though and a nightmare getting served in the right order. Charlton is suffering from a lack of decent boozers within 5 minutes stroll of the ground

Apparently, you could also watch the West Ham game in the foyer at The Valley yesterday.

At the same time as our game was playing.

I worked with The Pickwick recently and would recommend them. Just opposite the new sainsbury's site. Will play the game on SS, good pints, nice people run it.

I can't believe that. One of the nine remaining regulars supports West Ham, so probably for him. I once walked in with a crowd of mates desperate to catch the rugby. They had three telly's on at the time with different viewings but she refuded to show the rugby "because this is a football pub." We all fled.

  • I can't believe that.

It happened. Same in the Liberal Club. They put the West Ham game on. A couple of protesters not attending the match ended up in the Antigalican.
  • “Lovely Beer Garden”
  • £15k a year seems incredibly low. Presumably the pub has accommodation above and it would be difficult to get a 2 bedroom flat in Charlton for less than they want for the whole pub.

It says it doesn't include accommodation.
Ah, fair enough, still seems relatively cheap, though I guess a string of failed tenants would obviously drive the price down

It includes accomodation, it says the private accommodation comprises two bedrooms, a bathroom, kitchen and living room.

I think you guys are correct. I misinterpreted what it said.

    "Potential Turnover

    £235,000.00 per annum

This is our estimate of the potential annual turnover of the pub business. It does not include the financial benefits of any living accommodation, which you will need to consider."

  • If you know how to run a pub and need housing it's probably not a bad idea!

the low point for me in there was when they served a bloke a pint of guinness in a coke glass, have been in there after the home games a few times and the locals are a freindly bunch - do not know where ill drink when we go back as the swan is gone, the bugle was mobbed already.

  • He also has the Rose and Crown in welling.

Apparently plans a full refurb and a decent food menu 7 days a week.
  • Workmen started in the Royal Oak today. Hopefully they will sort out the lighting whilst they are freshening the place up.
  • Kevin who has taken it over is a good friend of mine, the refurb has been going on for a while and the photos ive seen its looking good. They are planning on doing food in there.

So what would it be like on a match day?
A bit like normal but nicer or restricted to about a dozen tables with people eating lunch?
