How much did Platini hate that? No matter what you think of Chelsea, watching Platini look like he was going to pass a kidney stone when he realised he had to pass the trophy to Chelsea was worth it all
    Never sais 'this' before.

This. Always a first time. Platini = jealous twat

Gary Neville's best "screech" yet! Makes me laugh every time. Class co-commentator. Have to put up with armchair arrogant Tottenham at work so will have a quiet Monday for a change.

just had a group of kids going down the road singing Chelsea. Who says other English clubs sucess doesnt affect our fanbase. Never unerstood support the English club. It's like saying support the south london team. Am i supposed to support scumwall and palarse is they are playing nothern teams.
You are so right Redman. I find it really strange that others don't see it. Every bit of success they have puts more money in their bank account, more supporters on their terraces and makes it just a little bit harder for us.

Now that it's all over for another year, I have a question about the Champions League that's been bugging me for years. What is it exactly that they sing in the CL theme? It sounds to me like "Der, der der, Lasagne".

Terry may have been suspended but doesn't mean he hasn't contributed to helping them win the cup. A lot of people jumping on the media bandwagon by sounds of it...

Well done Chelsea. First London team to win the European cup.
He didn't contribute much in Barcelona, apart from letting down his team. Lampard should have lifted the cup he shouldn't have been up there, on the pitch after, like the others.

Now Chelsea have finally won the Champions League, does that mean that Abramovich has achieved his aim and sell the club ?

Who cares, hate spurs and Chelsea.

I always used to think that but I'm pretty sure that they sing 'The Champions' in various different languages.

And if he'd had an ounce on integrity, he have realised that and kept out of the way. But of course we know about that already, don't we?

I kind of see where you're coming from but if you lived abroad you'd see it differently. It doesn't matter who plays for an English club because the French (for example) always refer to the team involved as 'les anglais.' Other people in other countries see that an English club has won it and that's all.
All in all it is quite prestigious for English football when you see how many times our clubs have won it. Just see how sick it makes Platini. Even his French socialist 'fair play' rules won't change it as he wants, because we simply have more passion for the game.

Game was pants until Bayern scored. Drogba beast - fantastic header. Cech - hero. Great for RDM. Well done Chelski.

Cannot understand why the team finishing fourth is denied a CL place as a result. Very unfair. How can you have a competition where the prized outcome of a 38 match league is altered because another team in that league happens to win the CL Ridiculous.

Yeah but Jimmy, as you say, I don't live abroad. I live in England. Why should I care what other people think (oops, I know that sounds a bit Millwall), let alone Platini? It makes no odds to me whatsoever. As a Charlton supporter, I want what's best for my club and, like it or not, that isn't for teams in the same city to be winning major trophies. The next time Chelsea come in with a last minute bid to nick one of our talented young players, the fact that they'll get the chance to play with a silly little star on their shirt will make it even harder for them to resist. Right now, there will be kids in Dartford, Welling and maybe even down Harvey Gardens who have decided to support Chelsea as a result of tonight's win. Some of them, just might have grown up to support Charlton had things gone differently. Maybe some of them will be open to conversion later in life, but others will have effectively been bitten by zombie fangs; destined to to roam the Earth for evermore as semi-sentient blue shirted beings. That makes me sad. Sad for them, sad for Charlton and sad for Humankind.

What's to say that they will not become Charlton fans? when they get old enough and realise how great it is to actually attend games and support your local team they will get themselves down the Valley and be hooked. Especially as they will only be able to see the big clubs like Chelsea and Man Utd once every 4 years. I know this happened to me and plenty of other people, you grow up watching the successful teams on television but nothing compares to actually attending games.

Watched the game with my Gooner-supporting brother last night. Silence for a good 20 mins after Drogba but the final penalty away. Then he said: "Oh mate. I cant imagine how you feel. It's like taking your pregnant wife to the hospital to deliver the baby, and the doctor comes out and says congratulations, it's a microwave oven". I dont think I could have put it better myself.

Well, tbh, you cant have the holders not coming back to try and retain the trophy. That would be a joke. To be fair, 2nd, 3rd and 4th place in the Premier League shouldnt qualify for the CL either. We've only got ourselves to blame.

I think Di Matteo was a bit lucky - had to change things before the Bayern goal - a good coach changes before not after. Still, sometimes it is better to be lucky than good. Drogba is Chelsea's talisman, their Henry. Will be so tough to replace him. Reckon he could still be good in the Championship if he wants to stay in London!!! Well dreaming isn't against the law.

Drogba, drives you nuts doesn't he....one of the most frustrating players ever to have played the game. Last night we saw none of the cheap theatrics that have blighted so many of his performances in the past and he showed what he can do when he just gets on with it. He had a great game and surely Chelsea's MotM.

Tbh I thought it was a fair result in the end. Yeah Bayern had the majority of the play and created many more chances but they simply didn't do enough for me. Their front line were ineffective and with Ribery and Robben failing to deliver they can have no complaints. Poor overall performance from Bayern and Robbens' penalty miss just about summed them up.

I agree - just felt their goal coming and good managers do something when that is the case.

No more sunday roasts for you next season! As soon as it went to penalties I was right behind Chelsea purely for the fact that it makes me sick at the amount of times Germans win penalty shoot outs. And it was probably one of the most exciting ends to a final since Man U beat Bayern in 99.

I thought Cahill, Cole and Lampard played better than Drogba. Drogba did nothing for80% of the game and ultimately could of lost it if Robben hadn't of baallsed up his penalty. I also don't think Drogba would have scored if Boateng didn't give him a shove in the back.

I agree with you there. Thought Drogba didn't have anywhere near enough running in him after the first 10 minutes and his contribution to the overall game was minimal. Contrast his performance with the introduction of Torres as an outlet. Torres was full of running and ran into the channels powerfully, taking the pressure off Chelsea's backline. His running also won the corner for Chelsea's goal, which was one of about 3 meaningful chances (if it falls to Kalou does it even count as a chance?). He worked so hard Torres, even if his tackling was Sunday league. But in the end Drogba popped up twice when he was needed and that's what makes him a great player.

Well played Chelsea, they hung in there and although Bayern Munich should have won it they failed to take their chances, that's what football is all about.

As for John Terry - the greatest night in his club's history and all he can do is watch it. For all the millions in the bank, the cars and all the bling the one regret in his life wull be that he was there but not part of the team that won it. Money can't buy that. Roy Keane missed the Barcelona cup final for Man U in similar circumstances, I'm led to believe that he doesn't like looking at the winner's medal.

Yer, because those kids were on the way to purchase Charlton tickets before Chelsea won on penaltys....

Glad an English team has won. I thought Lampard was awesome and hope he gets preffered to Gerrard for England. No way can you play them together. Although penalties decided game, Chelsea moved ball quicker and despite less posession looked better side

'Chelsea looked the better side'... Were we watching the same game? Until the 88th minute they didnt even try and play any football! Yes Bayern were awful in front of goal, but all other aspects of their play was far superior to Chelsea's! Happy a German team lost on pens though!

Pleased for English football, pleased for London and pleased for Frank Lampard and Ashley Cole showing some big balls to step up and put those penalties away, both have had a lot of stick throughout their careers, some deserved, some not but both, Cole especially, are top top players.

Hope it bodes well for the start of the tournament three weeks tomorrow.

Cole is an utter w*nker of a man but has never hid on a football pitch, even in an england shirt. Deserved the motm award tbh.
