watched the game against The Netherlands who were far better than England and won 2-0. I tnought Gomes was no worse or better than any other England player, maybe a little slow in the tackle but keen to get forward when he was allowed. For the majority of the match it was sideways passing at the back then lump the ball up to the strikers, not pretty!
I also said it Scoham and you replied "good to hear" if I recall. I feel next year is too early, but if excelling in the U21's by Xmas then worth trialling in the FA Cup.
England play Holland in the final. This is what the Mail are saying about JG
Joe Gomez (Charlton Athletic) - Tall, 16-year-old centre-half who played in five out of the six European Championship qualifiers, during which England conceded just the one goal. Has a good chance of making Charlton's first team next season and has furthered his case here.
I'll admit i've never actually seen him play, but i highly doubt a 16 year old CB even gets near the first team in the championship, atleast he's getting good reviews though!!

I'd be very surprised too, but I recall seeing David O'Leary playing for Arsenal at just 17 and I think he may even have been a regular that season. Anythng is possible, especially if we don't have any other CBs!!
