I might of met the wrong type of French fans but the ones I have met are a bid odd with their support. When over there for a few months i obviouslyet and talked to a few. They asked who I supported. I say Charlton. They then say, yeah, yeah (or wee, wee) but who is your top league team. I said what do you mean and they all said well we support (le harve or someone like that) but we support PSG.
Another occasion was when I was in a pub near Hyde Park for the world cup final 2018. Bunch of French in there. They're winning the game but still hardly much noise. It took me and my mate (who are both pretty drunk) to start singing their national anthem. Tbf though our version sounded more like we are shouting "March On." but still where's the passion or do they leave all that in the bedroom?
As I type this those beauty's Hungary just scored. Have it!!
I remember going to Paris during Euro 2000, and we couldn't find any bars showing France v Spain anywhere near our hotel.
Ended up in a tiny restaurant watching it with the Italian family who owned the restaurant, and the French people in there looked up for a little clap and "ah, oui" for the goals.
But for 90% of the game, the only people in there interested in the French game were the English and Italians.
They just showed a crowd of Hungarians celebrating in the town square in Budapest - which is great - but what about a shot of pissed off french fans sitting near the Eiffel Tower? I’d like to see that too. 😀

Yes. Last 25 years of working with middle class managerial types from across Europe I met quite a few who were as serious as me about footie. Spaniards, Italians of course but also Germans (lots of them), Dutch, Scandis. But not one French.. always puzzled me who the “real” French fans are.

Its happening again isn’t it
I feel better already!
They wouldn't have shown up otherwise.
It could be say France then Sweden or Spain then Portugal, which to my mind doesn't leave much of an easier route!
I'd take Hungary then Sweden....
