  • Didnt the FA put 10k on general sale anyway Large?
  • plenty of empty seats. thick cunts
  • Red in SE8 Is more or less right.
According to the millwall lad in his 50's who I work with (who's a judge and head of service in work, so no lowlife bullshitter) he saw it from close quarters and his explanation was:

"The problem was a 5.15 kick-off, too much beer and sniff. People coming back late from the 2nd half had a disagreement about who was sitting where and it went - two big groups of pissed up mates going at it.

The strange thing was the ob just stood and watched it develop for 20mins so that people who were trying to calm it down got dragged into it. When the ob finally arrived they randomly struck out at anyone within reach, which provoked a reaction from those who were nothing to do with the original actual incident, hence the girl shown crying on tv.

All in all a day to forget"

I trust the lad 100% - hopefully that at least puts to bed the silly but predictible crap about. other clubs being involved.

How many judges use the word "sniff"?!!
  • Didnt the FA put 10k on general sale anyway Large?

yeah, neutral area, only on sale to FA members so they knew who they were. Millwall were selling to any old knobhead and then act shocked when there is trouble. Heirarcy at Millwall as thick as their fans.

I am sure that the Police were very much aware of what was happening and were, told to wait until enough officers were in position to deal with it rather than just sending in three or four into a stand full of Millwall tanked up and ready for a fight.
  • On 606 on Saturday night they had a taxi driver who said it was all kicking off outside the pub at Baker Street station at lunchtime with loads of old bill in attendance then so the old bill and wembley authorities should have known what was coming.

Because people in high profile, respected positions have never been known to speak like joe bloggs or break the law have they.

I dare say he would not use that term in the line of duty mate, but he was speaking to someone privately on their level.

    Not that it's relevant.

I'd agree with Red-in-SE8 & The Organiser, that this seems to be the most plausible.

I saw a mini version of this in the old covered end about 10 years ago.

Captain Underpants (as we called him) was slagging off this teenaged girl & unbeknown to him, the dad was sitting there as well.

Dad thumped CU & then it went off wild west style, with everyone clumping everyone else for no particular reason.

It was hilarious , not at all funny.
  • Why was he slagging off a teenage girl?

  • Saturday was like a scene from Shaun of the Dead. An army of zombie-like Millwall supporters suddenly appeared around south east London. I drove from New Eltham to Bexleyheath via the bike shop in Sidcup at about 1 o'clock and they were lolloping along the road in groups of 3 or 4 with people of all ages. About a dozen spilled out of the Metro Bar into a minibus well tanked up and giving it the biggun to anyone passing by.

What I learned at the weekend was that a depressing number of people in my area showed their true Millwall allegiance. Needless to say now I know what they are, I will be giving these people a wide berth from now on.
  • I knew this would happen. After two days of reasonable slagging off of Millwall we're now getting the sensible backlash. Full of phrases like sounds plausible and mindless thugs and majority are all right.
We all know some Millwall fans who are 100% normal and as embarrassed as anyone else would be.
BUT it's not about the majority who are ok, it's about the MINORITY! The minority of thugs that have and ALWAYS WILL associate with the name Millwall.
The club needs to be closed. Now, and forever.

Millwall serve a valuable service. They are a natural c*** filter for us. The fan catchment area of both clubs will always have a filth element within it and with Millwall, well, its like moths to a flame.

Nah we don't want 'em closed down....we just wanna keep 'em downtrodden, stifled of progress/growth/success/oxygen and generally reviled by all and sundry.
  • So let me get this right.

Watford v Charlton was ordered by plod to be moved to a 13.00 kick off, several months before the game. Plod thinks there is a risk of " disorder" which is drink related.

Millwall are allowed to play in a a game like that with a 17.15 kick off, because the TV deal requires that time.

    Who' s running this country?
  • edited April 2013
We always seem to kick off early around Christmas time (did against those well know thugs from Doncaster too) - think its because the police might be needed in London but you are right really..silly rule.

Then again money talks and if that is when the TV wanted the semi final then the FA would bow down to them.

Its a bit like when Hull could only take a limited number of fans to Huddersfield the other week but Leeds took 4,200 or so.
  • Interesting post Red. Sounds plausible to me.
  • Still don't buy into this whole late kick off being the main cause (look at Barcode Derby) , it's practically two hours difference to a normal saturday game, people will just start earlier. It's all down to mentality, I've started at 8 in the morning to numerous away games and have never got in a bit of grief when I have and its definently not because I can handle my drink because these days I really can't. I also don't care about them saying as a percentage it was a low amount, it doesn't matter it was still too many, loads of clubs have played at Wembley in recent years under all different circumstances and nothing like that has been seen there in ages. Should they get there again anytime soon, will the club adopt a previous purchase scheme? Will they fuck!!!! People saying they were not proper Millwall supporters and don't attend games at the den obviously didn't recieve a dig for the crime of coming out the away end in December. Sooner the scummy little club goes down the leagues and gets lower and lower attendances the better.

I make red right about the police. From the video it looked like they came through the tunnel and just started hitting anyone. How on earth are they not better trained / more prepared to deal with a situation like that. I recognise it's not easy but they had 20 minutes to plan their approach... and they decided to just walk through the tunnel and swing at everything. Nice.

I usually find the police bashing on here to be a total bore but it seems fitting in this case.

pictures show knuckledraggers having a pop. what are they supposed to do?
  • don't know why you'd even bother to analyse it. Scummy club, scummy fans. As a Club they don't care. If they did they would only have sold to season ticket holders/members and been content with 15,000 genuine fans there. Instead they put them on general sale. As they say 'we don't care' and it shows.

Agree. I was in the West at the derby game and their thugs thought they owned the ground. Police backed this up by treating us like the away fans. Mindless morons; that's what they do.
  • Millwall x 30,000 fans; 5:15 kick off. Valley game x 2,000 fans; 12.30 KO. Go figure.

Exactly. The question for the police is: are you saying that TV companies can overrule your rules for (alleged) policies for keeping the peace?

Ha ha, that sounds brilliant really bad. I couldn't help but be reminded of this (action form about 21.21).

She was a bit of a mouthy chavster. (No offence to mouthy chavssters :-)
  • No offence taken.
  • Thoughtful and largely accurate observation by Red in SE8. The one comment that I cannot fully agree with is the assertion that Millwall Football Club have made enormous efforts over the last 20 years to eradicate their hooligan element and aggressive culture. I will say that I think the club have done something but there has never been the will to fully address the problem. There is a certain glorification of the tough image and " no one likes us, we don't care" culture. This culture and attitude is I believe not the preserve of the hooligan element but part of the fabric of the club. Theo Paphitis when Chairman made the only real effort to address this when he removed the charging lion badge from all official Millwall merchandise and reverted the club badge back to the original two lions rampant either side of a shield. The reason was because he saw it too aggressive. When Paphitis left the first change was to revert back because the fans wanted it ! The merchandise is full of "we fear no foe" "let em come" because its the only thing they sell. The atmosphere at Senegal Fields is geared towards being intimidating. It's what the fans see as getting behind their team. One of the biggest complaints by " true wall " is that this atmosphere is being lost. The club literally cannot afford to eject and ban every supporter that attends then Den that shouts abuse or kicks off. The club attempt to keep a lid on it and that's it. Enormous effort ? Not in my view. They pay lip service to their official line of being proactive.
