In reality he has probably run his time there and he has done a superb job, when he joined and they were looking at League Two as a real possibility,he leaves them about to embark on a fourth season in the Championship.
I have always liked him as a manager and if we didn't have SCP would have gladly had him at the Valley.I never thought Millwall would get relegated under him.Like Curbs in the Prem he understood what was needed to scrape results in the Division and the spanners have punched above their weight.
Millwall is a unique club and for those who have not seen the thread about Philpott there is a great analysis about them by @GlassHalfFull
I suspect Wembley followed by the Hulse incident and the Philpott chants might have pushed him over the edge because all of the good work he has done would have been undone.
Has been on the cards for quite a few weeks. Doubt it has anything to do with the Wembley stuff etc, has has always been very averse to turning a blind eye / deaf ear to Millwall's issues, as it has over the years helped provide him to the benefit of an intimidating home ground.
The bottom line is he appears to have lost his dressing room a couple of months ago, or if not lost simply had a squad that he had assembled with too many splits in the camp.
Whereas before he has been pretty astute with what he has brought it, the last few months have been an absolute disaster (Hulse, Easter, Tyson etc). Only Chaplow looked decent and he got injured.
I don't necessary think they will be bankers to go down. There looks like there was a big opportunity for the chairman to pull out post Wembley but that doesn't seem to happen. He has backed them tremendously over the last few years, and if he is reinvigorated by a new manager, anything is possible down there (he has funds).
The next management spell could be make or break for Millwall though. It goes wrong and that will be it for their chairman i reckon, and they will then be in serious decline which would take years to recover from, if ever.
Berylson has funds, yes, but he does not want to spend them thus the merry go round of loanees.
Why would you spend money on players when less than 10,000 bother to pitch up for home games?
Also, having money (wealth) and being able to lose it is not always the same thing. The kind of money that would need to be invested to give Millwall a very good chance of progressing into a team good enough to win promotion to the Premier League is substantial.
Sure they could get lucky and scrape sixth then stumble through the next three games with a bit of outrageous good fortune, but to really challenge would cost millions - on top of the money being used to bankroll the club now.
I also think it will be difficult to tempt really good players to go there as they are still thought of as being racist hooligans. I'm not saying that they are, indeed, racist hooligans, just that the perception exists, and very few players have no choice as to where they go these days.

Do players care that much? Shittu got dogs abuse when he played against them as a QPR player, a year later he signs for them and they love him.

I don't know the personal views of many (or any, in actual fact) players, but I would think that all things considered if a player had two, or more, offers he would not want to go to Millwall.
I'm referring to the kind of players that would make them very firm favorites for promotion.
I could well be wrong, but of all the clubs Millwall do have one of the worst reputations.
The problem is, if the chairman puts the usual spin on it, they might sound very appealing to any new manager. Over the last few seasons, they have had some good cup runs, a couple of Wembley appearances, good stable finances etc. We all know its spin, but to a out of work manager, it would sound like a good club!
I bet not spending the cash on woods made a big difference. I like Kenny, wish him well for the future. Can't say the same for the knuckle draggers down the road.
Kenny stated: "After almost six seasons I personally feel the time is right for a new challenge, and also for a new manager to come into Millwall with fresh ideas, to take the club forward towards its long term goal of reaching the Premier League."
Brilliant news - the last half decent thing left at that club has just left. Amount of times i've heard the word passion associated with them yet is there any other club who have been held back so much by their own fans? Passion? If turning up 2 or 3 times a year, getting pissed and coked up and having a fight (quite possibly with your own) is what they think passionate support is, then no wonder they are the smalltime outfit they are and always have been.
Martin Allen would be perfect, the bloke has no track record at Championship level, looks lost at League 1 level as well, ex West Ham, and a bit of idiot.
Jackett seems a decent manager, would be very interesting to see him at a proper club with funds to bring in a few players. His loan acquisitions would suggest he knows a player when he sees one!
Latest SkyBet odds for the next Millwall manager: 7-1 Owen Coyle; 8-1 Dean Saunders, Karl Robinson; 10-1 Darren Ferguson, Dennis Wise, Gary Johnson; 20-1 Alan Curbishley.
Well done News Shopper on getting the
"Kenny Decides to Jackett in" headline in first.
Obvious limitations in their thought processes. I would have welcomed 'No Jackett Required' at the very least.

There's loads of out of work managers desperate for a job, and even with the baggage, Millwall is far more attractive than any L2 team or most of L1.
Don't underestimate Millwalls ability to attract a decent manager. They are an established Championship club and as such will appeal to a good many managers. I personally hope they rot in hell but don't get your hopes up that they are going to end up with Dean Saunders.

Well done to NLA for calling this.

They'll have an eye on Uwe Rosler for sure.

Even Kenny doesn't like them now. LOL
