Although I think his motivational powers were on the wane, I am still delighted that Jackett has gone. I think they will try to get a coach and turn him into a manager like they did with George Graham. Steve Bould? But who would want to go there?
Has been on the cards for quite a few weeks. Doubt it has anything to do with the Wembley stuff etc, has has always been very averse to turning a blind eye / deaf ear to Millwall's issues, as it has over the years helped provide him to the benefit of an intimidating home ground.
The bottom line is he appears to have lost his dressing room a couple of months ago, or if not lost simply had a squad that he had assembled with too many splits in the camp.
Whereas before he has been pretty astute with what he has brought it, the last few months have been an absolute disaster (Hulse, Easter, Tyson etc). Only Chaplow looked decent and he got injured.
I don't necessary think they will be bankers to go down. There looks like there was a big opportunity for the chairman to pull out post Wembley but that doesn't seem to happen. He has backed them tremendously over the last few years, and if he is reinvigorated by a new manager, anything is possible down there (he has funds).
The next management spell could be make or break for Millwall though. It goes wrong and that will be it for their chairman i reckon, and they will then be in serious decline which would take years to recover from, if ever.
Almost reads sympathetically?!
They are in a slump on the pitch ... their gates are shite... unlike Peterborough with similar gates they have been living beyond their means and FFP will stop that or stop them signing players... decent players like Wood are gone and Shittu is getting on... Finished!
Will enjoy singing "we'll never play you again" next season as we secure 4 maybe 6 points as we step up
As others have said there are PLENTY of out of work managers and coaches that want to get back in the game, they might end up getting someone quite decent like Owen Coyle - I am just glad they never got the likes of Adkins or McDermott.
Imagine if Martin Allen did go down there? Christ, what a combination, a nutcase manager and a Jeremy Kyle fan base.

To be honest, I really can't see why he'd want to. Has said recently that he's looking for some job stability, Has just earned a championship trophy with a club that (although start next season a division lower than millwall) are (in my opinion) about the same size of club of the spanners. Millwall might have a bigger stadium than the Gills, but attendances would be pretty even if playing along-side each other.

"Stay put mad dog"...............
Depends on the cash, Scally would be paying feck all at Gills but would Millwall pay substantially more? Doesn't seem that likely and is probably why Jackett left as he can get a better contract at a bigger club like Wolves or someplace else.
If Millwall offered Allen a three-year deal and good money he would probably go, don't think they will though - can see them taking a cheap option.
I rate Jackett as a manager and think he's definitely helped Millwall punch above their weight, as clearly do their board. He's very good at grinding out results. Good luck to him. Whoever comes in will have a lot of issues in the dressing room to deal with as well as the hostility of a lot of the fans to their players. I'd recommend Dowie, Megson or Saunders. I've heard Stale Solbakken is top as well.

Just looking at their forum and my word are they having a good at the chief executive. It seems he is a disease hurting their club hahahaha. He has been on the radio saying they dont need a new manager until the players return for pre- season training!
I'd say he clearly has not lost the dressing room. They got tonked by Peterborough, but apart from that with Wood you can see they would have won a lot more matches. Their performances have not been abject. Jackett assembles squads on less money than probably our league one team. Yes they operate at a loss, but also he astutely signs players like Henderson, whereby Sheffield United had paid him off thus reducing his weekly wage for Millwall.
Unfortunately an astutely assembled squad, always needs a striker because rarely do you pick them up cheap. Harris and Morrison were excellent. Henderson was just about enough to keep them up, and Jackett didn't over play him not risking his oft injuries, when Henderson threw a tantrum on the pitch he was out the side for a month. He sacrificed his most important asset, so it did not undermine his dressing room. Luckily or brilliantly he then got Harry Kane. This season he got Wood in. For a club that is essentially on a financial knife edge for the division they are in, the loss of one top striker, will easily result in a relegation. He managed to evolve the team in three seasons.
Unfortunately now, to find a fifth striker with little up front outlay is almost impossible. Trotter who's their most talented player, can not play through injury, and is prone to niggling injury. From afar I'm not sure why he's out the team, but would guess this is the case. For a player who when fit, is worth a good few million, he's not an asset. As anyone who scouts with half a brain couldn't justify the 2-3 million outlay, for someone who's prone to career long hamstring/back niggles. His first eleven has very few players from the promoted side, a third evolution would at best be incredibly hard and probably only just keep them in the champ. His squad is good enough, with a few tweeks and that magic striker a manager can keep them in the division. Unfortunately there are few managers in the football league anywhere near as skilled as Jackett. A brilliant manager who deserves to get a crack at a top champ club. For me a far better manager than Billy 'bankrupt the club' Davies.
When Wood left for Leicester, Millwall were prepared to match the reported fee of 1 million for him but the wages Leicester offered were outside Millwalls limits. I think we might see Berylson get in a new manager and give him some cash. I don't think we can expect that KJ leaving is anything like a death blow unfortunately.

And that Iain Dowie gets the job.

:-)
Should go to wolves. Opportunity to wim the league and then push for promotion once back in the champ
