Right back cover while Solly is out.

Unlikely, more likely cover for Wilson at right back in competition with Charlton Under 21 right back. Wilson will still be right back. Underwhelmed by this move.
  • Yann must not be allowed to leave. My guess is that he just needs to feel loved rather more by the new owner than the last lot. Contract please!
  • NLA what have you heard have we got bids in loans or permanent for championship players ?.Or is it just your opinion?
  • Dubious rumour about Yann leaving and this place goes into meltdown, he won't leave anytime soon.

cant believe people are always underwhelmed , Solly is crocked just had an op with no certainties this will work, we need imo 2 strikers and another midfielder, these postitions cost more to fill , our budget this season is not limitless, so we need to take a couple of risks to ensure we get better players in the most important places,

Oh, I can and most of them are so predictable that William Hill won't give odds on them anymore :0)
  • oh dear. Sunderland have recalled Conor Wickham from his loan spell at the Massives.

YESSSSS! Large wins popularity contest for 27th Jan 2014 !!!!

  • I am not always underwhelmed. Simeon Jackson or Woods or some decent proven quality in the team would help. AA looks like he could work out, but the key positions still need strengthening. We will have a competitive young league one team at this rate. Can't believe that Duchalet is going to forego a decent chance to stay in the championship, but that is what is happening. OK there are 4 days left but the new right back is not going to stop us get relegated.

The strategy of playing young players must be balanced by some proven quality. Duchalet strategy sounds like Jimensz and Slaters without the cash backing. I hear that some good PR words have been spoken but thats easy. So yes still massively underwhelmed. Where is the quality ?

  • its all going to get very interesting this next few days , signing players from with his camp, leaves money to grab other players as it is not really a spend

if we can grab RB as cover and goochi I can see some of powells more localised targets coming in

And the latter would surely mean that the gaffer is safe....for the time being anyway.

I am unfortunately not wrong though Golf, am I ? I hope that I am proved wrong over the next week to two. I would be happy for that.
  • Dubious rumour about Yann leaving and this place goes into meltdown, he won't leave anytime soon.

Its not a rumour though mate. Bournemouth have bid for yann and one of there old boys who isn't actually old. Just got to hope they accept our offer.

nope not a dicky bird only about our players yann, the other one randy just said and a few fringe players

  • Well I am very pleased that we are getting young players in rather than older players who are past their best.
  • loic nego has also played for standard liege! hmm

This new lad Loic Nego may not have made many senior appearances but he has represented his country nearly 60 times from U16 to U20 so clearly has some pedigree and yes I know so did Movetoakill which didn't work out to well.

RD has now been in control just over three weeks, he's still putting the building blocks in place and do people seriously think a successful business man is going to do £20m at the drop of a hat just for the sheer hell of it? We needed bodies, some have arrived, others are arriving and we may well have others in the pipeline by the time the transfer window closes. If not then all is not lost, the emergency loan window opens within about a fortnight so ffs chill out everybody.

We don't need major surgery all over the team a decent striker yes but that's what most teams in the Championship are after so we're probably having to think outside the box a bit. RD is not going to start chucking his money around willy nilly when he has probably 120+ professional footballers on his payroll, in any case that has not been his style before so don't expect it now. Be patient it's is all we can do and give the man at least until the end of the week to see how the dust has settled before you start being underwhelmed but if you want to beat yourself up, carry on, be my guest.

    Spot on.

Would be nice if people on here could get his name right too.

  • Get SCP a new contract along with the rest of the squad instead of dicking about signing players no one has ever heard of. What's the hold up?

let's give Roland and Chris Powell 10 yrs and see where we end up. I would give SCP a 10 yr contract. Lets take the crap out of football and move forward.

We like what we have. Lets keep what we like. SCP on a 10 yr contract and move forward. A statement of intent and belief.

He may be not the best in the world. But he is the best in our world. I do not want any journey man manager. I want a manager that understands Charlton. I want a manager that belives in us.

    We win or lose together.

If we go down - so what. You are Charlton or you are not.

Not a believer in a long term contract as it runs the risk of someone getting too comfortable or dictatorial... The club is bigger than a person, full stop!

Scp is the longest serving manager in our league. What does that say? Fergie was not the best in the business when he started. MU invested in him and his plans and look where it got them. Football is not a complicated game.

What you need is a person who can manage people. I think SCP can.
I do not think anyone can become too comfortable in football. But I do think a manager that is comfortable in his position can add confidence to his team.

17 senior appearances since 2010. 13 for Nantes 10/11. 0 appearances for Roma, 0 for Liege. 4 for Upjest.

Happy to see him do well. I know Charlton supporters are looking for the positives but spinning this as an exciting decent signing is just dreamland and beer goggles.

I am very happy to see a decent signing arriving at Charlton. The next two weeks will be key to see if Charlton will get sufficient quality in to maintain position in the Championship.

What? Championship clubs are looking to pick up a striker from a midtable League One team who hasn't been scoring goals?

Ok we may have hit some good form of late.

    I only have one problem...

We haven't been playing that well or really dominating matches.

Can anyone say that they are really happy with Powell this season?

Phil Parkinson's contract is coming to an end at Bradford and it will be interesting to see which other lifers would agree that he would be a good choice to get us up to the prem?

    dizzee said:

I'm surprised at the response to my thread.

Can any of you honestly say that we have played well since mid way through last season?

Yes as many of you have pointed out we won 6-0 v Barnsley but they had 2 sent off and we still didn't manage to dominate. It was embarrassing.

I just don't think Powell has sorted a team that can win matches.

Is it really everybody who disagrees with me?

There must be some other realistic Charlton fans out there?
