Think it is more than a fair offer, at 32 and soon to be out of contract his worth is a fraction of his ability. However we have to stay up and are more likely to do so by keeping our better players.
This also smacks of a club trying to doom us to relegation by buying our best player for more money than he is worth.
Weird one this. To Bournemouth, he's probably not worth any more than 400k because of his age and the fact that he is out of contract in June. However, to us, he is much more valuable than that and verging on invaluable! Hard to see how we could reach an agreement on this deal. I bloody hope we don't!
Bournemouth are just 7 points above us and we have a game in hand. Since the middle of September that have achieved as many points as us (19 in 19 games) and could easily fall into a relegation battle. If they can prize away from us our best, and only decent, striker then they can probably guarantee that we will not catch them. They have only beaten Millwall, Yeovil and Doncaster at home since August. If the bottom sides go on a run (which tends to happen in the second half of the season) they could be in real trouble.
Ultimately £400k to get him in their side six months earlier, if it makes the difference between staying up or going down looks to be good business.

This , we would need a lot more than £400 K. We would want to pull the Cheeries closer into the mire not give them a helping hand. Also worried about the Wiggins rumours to AFCB.
If Celtic offered the same amount I might view it differently, although ultimately I want Yann and SCP to stay.
If it is right, 400k is a very big bid for a 32 year old who can walk away for nothing in the Summer - unless, of course, we can exercise an option to extend the term of the contract (I simply don't know what the factual position is).
The difficulty is that Yann's departure is likely to relegate us. Regardless of who we get in, they will need time to settle and there can be absolutely no guarantee that they will hit the ground running. His sale would also be crushing in terms of morale, particularly at this pivotal stage of the season.
The differential in TV money alone (leaving aside all other income) must be a couple of million and I cannot see that any offer from them in this range could make sense for us. Relegation would probably set us back three years.
I suspect that, if a bid has, indeed, been made, the outcome may well turn upon what sort of contract Bournemouth are dangling in front of Yann and his agent. If we can't get close to it and he decides that he wants out, I suspect it will then just be a question of how much we can ease the figure up by. If, on the other hand, we can unilaterally extend his contract, we are in a much better position to dig in.
Im slightly dissapointed that we dont get to see them looking pissed off holding a shirt up any more. We haven't had one for Thuram or Koc, or even Astrit I dont think.
You know the one, where they hold it up, to the side like its a piece of evidence from a criminal investigation whilst looking moderately pissed off. I miss those images
52.2.2 No Club may sign more than 4 loan Players (Standard, International, Emergency or Youth) from another Club (or club) in any Season. An additional Youth Loan Player may be added to this figure.
OR as a non-EU citizen he doesn't qualify for a work permit? He's been playing in Europe for a while but FA rules are different to those in Belgian or elsewhere.
Born in Iran, but lived in Holland since he was a kid, so probably has an EU passport
Not sure why people keep going on about how old Yann is. He joined when he was 29/30 and has looked the exact opposite of 'past it' in the way he plays.
Barring any major injuries, he will still be able to hit a peach of a free kick and win 80% of headers going in a couple of years time.
Too many on here have been playing too much FIFA or Football Manager and are just thinking about ways of how we can make a quick buck. Its all well and good having a bit more money in the bank, but £400,000 is highly unlikely to buy us a player as effective as Yann.
Signing him on a free was an absolute masterstroke.
Most (if not all) Charlton fans will be thinking 'decent offer but he's invaluable to us so we can't sell him'
RD will probably be thinking '400k for a 32 year old, nearly out of contract and i can replace him with the iranian for nothing, au revoir Yann'
Hopefully both Powell and Yann both sign new contracts soon.
but will he?
The guy is no doubt a shrewd business man around a pound note, but he owns a network of clubs so obviously isn't short of a few quid. He must realise how important Yann is to the survival of CAFC in the Championship.
400k is a decent amount but not in the context of our situation.
If yann leave we may as well throw the white flag in. The guy is crucial to the way we play football. Pretty much one of the only guys in our team who has any vision as well
If Ngoo comes in then surely Yann will leave. Liverpool won't want him coming here to bench warm and I really cannot see him playing along side Yann.
If Liverpool don't want him to bench warm then they can play him themselves. They can't pick our team for us. He might be good cover but that's it. He'll still be unproven.
Anyone thinking we should sell him for £400k needs their brain dusting.
He's one of the reasons we are not dead certs for relegation. It will cost us a lot more if he leaves and we get relegated.
It's just Bournemouth trying to unsettle him and upset us.
As for Wiggins - there is no way he would be going to Bournemouth. He is good enough to play in the premiership. If he had some better players around him and a nice pitch to play on you would see a different player. A Premier League player.
@Jodaius has corrected what I said on the other thread about International loans and explains why any further Liege signings must be under 23.This is consistent with the Belgian journo and clears it up for me,unfortunately we will not be signing Reeza or Tal Ben Haim unless it is a permanent deal.
I don't think this is correct. Any loan from Standard Liege can only be an International Loan - not a Standard or Youth Loan, as these are domestic only. You need to consider the following:-
52.2.2 No club may sign more than 4 loan Players (Standard, International, Emergency or Youth) from another Club (or club) in any Season. An additional Youth Loan Player may be added to this figure.
53.2.6 No more than 2 Players who are over 23 may join one Loaning Club from another Parent Club on a Standard Loan in any Season.
53.4.3 The defined term of Standard Loan in Regulations 53.2.5 to 53.2.7 inclusive shall be deemed to include International Loans such that International Loans shall count towards the quotas set out therein.
Since it's impossible to have a 'Youth Loan' from a foreign club, my interpretation of the above is that we are allowed up to 4 loan players from Standard during the season, of which up to 2 can be over 23. Unless anyone else has a different understanding?

Personally cannot see it happening. Though its not like RD does not have previous.
