Even if we do bid for a player, which i doubt that we will, the players price will go up as the selling club will have the knowledge we have sold two strikers in this window. A clever chairman such as Levy buys the replacements before selling the crown jewel i.e Bale.
I can't really see why RD is getting stick for the whole lack of contract debacle?!?
Agreed...It's the previous regime that have left us in this mess. They didn't give a hoot about the fans and now we're paying the price. RD isn't to blame for this

I am amazed, in fact absolutely gobsmacked, that one single Charlton supporter could see anything positive in the departure of Yann. To us fans he is a cult hero. When his teammates glance around the dressing room before a game, I should imagine they would draw strength from his presence. He is a talismanic figure. OK, he is no youngster, but this is not the time to be moving him on. There is unfinished business. If this goes through, it would be amongst the most dispiriting transfers of recent times and would put the new board seriously at odds with fans. Please do not try to put a positive spin on this sorry episode. It just won't wash.

We won't know exactly the impact of this until May. I'm not going to try and put a positive spin on this because right now, I feel exactly like you about the idea of him moving on, but if good players arrive to replace him and supplement the other squad members then we may come out of this stronger.
I'm clinging to the hope that there are quality players negotiating contracts at the Valley right now, but I have to admit I'm not confident that is happening and if it is, I don't totally understand why Yann wouldn't be one of them.
Apparently the owner is on twitter if your keen to express your opinions... Keep them respectable...
Have tweeted him, encourage all fans to do the same, will probably do nothing but at least he knows how unhappy we are and also he probably doesn't see things from a football point of view i.e. effect on morale, maybe not getting anyone better, them finding it difficult to bed in etc.
Sadly a fake. Might be able to find the sporting director ;-)
GH your right 100% about being a selling club and its right that fans are fucked off but what do we do with Yann if we have offered him a contract and he say No , what more can we do
Tell B'mouth to fuck off; tell Yann he's staying and keep him til the end of the season. Then he can walk if he wants to. We just have to stay up this season, it is crucial that we do and we have a lot better chance with Yann than without him. If RD needs £400k that badly when he's string on a half billion fortune he can do one too.
I can't really see why RD is getting stick for the whole lack of contract debacle?!?
why not, we're his to do with as he pleases, we're his baby now, if I bought a business tomorrow first thing I'd do was to sort my assets out....
And the suggestion is that he tried to.....and the "asset" was not happy with how the club valued him. It happens.
I'm far from happy if he goes but the previous mob must surely take the lions share of the blame?!?
I guess we all need to chill until Friday midnight then see where we are... I wouldn't blame him for going if we ain't put a decent offer on the table, if in fact there has been one...

If Yann is not signing a new contract and a team is offering £500k for a 32 year old whose injury record is poor then its a good deal in my opinion.
disappointed yes would rather be adding than losing but a businessman don't look at it like a fan.
RD hasn't had the time scale to change a lot of this (less than a month)
Just hope we can tie Wiggins up.

I have and they are 10 points above us and we have a game in hand.
They are one of about five or six teams who could still get sucked in,if they sign Yann it probably means they are safe in my opinion.
people seem to be accepting that as fact when deciding whether its a good deal or a bad deal.
It could well be far less beneficial than that, and certainly weighted on conditions (ie. promotion to prem etc, to get to the top figure)
I'm far from happy if he goes but the previous mob must surely take the lions share of the blame?!?
That would be even more laughable, having bonus clauses for substantial amounts for a 32 year old
For AFCB probably survival in the CCC as well.

Good signing for them
