@s but it has a ring of truth. I'll get my tin hat anyway.
Cheers for posting and being honest about the reliability - of the info. Unfortunately I fear your source may be spot on but in some ways it's the uncertainty I hate the most.
I'm sure he would have been offered an improved contract - so as long as he signs for a club in this country we should get something. No certainty of that though - we all know that mega rich club Barcelona are a cheating stealer of smaller of club's talent! That is on record - they have been found guilty of it! I liken it to Richard Branson stealing the pennies from a beggar's hat - football really is a despicable game at the highest levels with zero morals! Forgetting about Charlton here- I find it very sad. I wish there was a way we (football fans) could get our game back.
Maybe I am just a nutter but I still think there is a chance he will sign. the opposite of the argument he would have signed by now, there is no reason that he could not have signed for someone else and it be announced as per Hamer.
I ma hoping he is happy for the contract but holding out to see what the new coach is like and what kind of ambition we are showing in the transfer market.

I tend to agree, but If I believe the rumour that Peeters won't arrive until 1st July, by then Diego's contract will have expired, so he will be gone, but surely our new management can't be so stupid as allow that to happen?
I don't think this one is about the new management! There is enough to pin on that door, but this one shouldn't be.
I agree except if Gus and Son are waiting to hear from the new Coach then the club should be moving hel;l and high water to make it happen. Surely he can get on a plane for one day or we can pay for them to get to Belgium./
Someone could go and ask him if he's signing or not as he's playing football at Eltham Goals tonight, if his twitter is anything to go by.
As an aside, are pro-footballers allowed to do this?
What are the Club going to do? Sack him?
To be honest I'm getting fed up with the posts about how much Diego is worth now, next year or in four years time.
I couldn't give a fig if we get £400k or £4m for him - that's for the owner to worry about. So many posting on here like Diego is a commodity, not a 19 year old football player whose skills and talent has been honed by CAFC.
He's been brought through our youth set up and has blasted his way onto the scene since the New Year. So much so, that he was voted the fans POTY.
I just want to see Diego in a Charlton shirt for as long as possible - not because of the fee he may bring in, but because he is a class footballer - and to be quite frank, they have been few and far between over the past few years.
Possibly the best home grown talent I've seen in my 40 years at the Valley and I just want it to last.
If he goes, then he goes. But I'll still be telling my missus 'ex Charlton youth' everytime he appears on my TV screen and I'll still remember being at his debut, just like Shelvey, Solly, Jenkinson, Parker, Rufus, Bowyer, Lee and dozens of others that have come through our youth set up.
All this talk of £400,000 is a bit premature seeing as he could leave for nothing.
He can't leave for nothing. We'd get 400k plus add ons. All agreed and set in stone when the FL sold its rights to the PL big boys. Is this so difficult to understand?

Class post. Great set of debuts to have witnessed, I am only missing bob lee from that list.
Solly jenks parker - struggled on debuts IMO
Shelvey, rufus, bowyer - different gravy from day 1.
The key issues here if when he goes are
1. What did we offer? 2. His next destination 3. Games he plays next season
I find it funny people say we cant have a pop if he moves on to a PL reserve side? Why not? Defoe gets crucified but the money he got at 17 changed his life and he didnt have a pot to peesh in. DP can hardly claim that. Any move would because he wants it (PL Status) right now IMO.
Last player claiming he left because he didnt believe in the ownership set up was Kermit and, IMO, thats already been proven to be bullshit.

If I remember correctly,
Solly league debut came on for Ward against Norwich at Home.
Jenkinson League debut at the Victoria Ground v Hartlepool (to be honest, he should have been sent off after his first tackle).
Parkers debut was at Gigg Lane against Bury (I think)

Went to school with him. Last thing he said to me, and this was a while ago, some time before he broke into the first team, that should we be in the Championship as and when he became a first team regular, he'd be happy and willing to sign a contract with the club.
However the boardroom situation has changed SO drastically since he said these words that I don't know how much store to set by them. Hopefully he'll sign, but who knows.
Interesting tidbit - he's quite partial to Newcastle United for reasons I can't fathom. Often played at school in a Magpies shirt.

I stand corrected but I think contracts finish on the 31st May, so next week will see a bit of activity.
