  • Dervite and Poyet men of the match for me. Obika showed good strength and some nice touches. Wiggins back to his best too. All positive tonight COYR!

Good seeing you James, can you come every week now! It's Joe.

No better feeling than a last minute winner! Haven't celebrated like that for a while!

I though Wilson was absolutely class tonight, he'll be getting my player of the season vote for sure!

Riga is making a big impression on me, I was gutted when CP left but no one can deny Riga is doing the business.

Jackson, Poyet and Dervite all fantastic! Green was good first half and awful second. Harriott was shocking.

Obika and Sordell both looked likely I thought, liked what i saw!

We're trying to play football which is good however sometimes I feel we've gone from one extreme to the other, so much tippy tappy around the box but no real end product! Still can't complain, 3 points, out of the relegation zone and we've dunked millwall in it in the process! Brilliant!

P.S Yann and Powell who?!! Haha.

    COYR
Good to see you Joe! Love it that Dervite sent us all home happy.

Always said I would watch Charlton more when they play decent football again and we are starting to do that again under Riga I think.

    See you soon.
  • Sordell was excellent when he came on. Up front rather than out wide alongside Obika on Saturday please.

    Agree on both points
  • Thought Bournemouth played some nice football without too much threat but in the last 15 mins we pushed on. Diego was unlucky from distance and I couldn't believe how sponge foot and Jacko contrived to miss that chance near the end. Relieved we got there in the end and pleased for Jose. Onwards and upwards...

That was a great night I thought the crowd were spot on tonight they clapped Yann but kept right behind the team, looks like there is real belief in the back four now and Obika made a real difference when he came on.

Tough few games ahead but we have given ourselves a real chance. Riga would appear not to be told who to play and making full use of the squad it what is a busy busy time.

I hated seeing Yann in a different shirt but loved Jacko and Ben jumping out of the tunnel, there are elements of our old club still there and some positives about the new regime as well.

    COYA!
  • That first half was up there with the worst I've seen us all season. Conceding possession, sitting deep, misplaced passes.

Second half was a different story, led by Poyet and backed up by the excellent Dervite we harried Ballmouth into mistakes. Still created very little which worries me but whilst we stay strong defensively, that we have all season, we stand a chance.

One winger and a target man please.
  • Tres bon, DD, avant aujourd'hui, vous n'est pas mon favorit homme Francais, mais maintenant peut etre !

Well done lads, maybe just maybe............
  • Obika was very good to be fair, he was just what we've been missing, someone who draws fouls and defenders out and with a neat touch and wins some headers. Defence deserve all the credit and so glad we scored it, I'm surprised JJ had the legs still to jump out the tunnel!

Bumped into Callum Harriot in the car park after, he was hobbling fast away, his right ankle.. doesn't look great, would be guessing he was off for a scan.

Interesting, I would also agree that we are short of a target man but I am not sure that Riga would be interested in that sort of forward, he apparently prefers more mobile front players.

In all honesty though I think we will just have to take whoever is available at this stage of the season!
  • Mentally drained and emotionally exhausted so I'll keep this short:

We were never going to score from open play and neither were Bournemouth.

I thought Riga got it wrong in the second half by going 4-5-1 with two centre forwards as wingers (I don't care what anyone says it was never a 4-4-3 and if it was it didn't work).

They marked Jackson out of the game by showing him onto his right but he still put a beauty of a corner over (can we close that ridiculous thread now?) for the rock that is Dorian Dervite. Their GK should have caught the free kick that led to the corner - a lot to be said for catching the ball.

Dervite has been superb since he's been back in the side and fully deserved that goal.

    COYR!

  • Nothing came off for Callum but few options. Church and JJ never moved for him.
  • I didn't think Harriott was that bad. Lots didn't come off but he kept trying.

You shouldn't have bumped into him so hard then. What has Callum done to you?
  • Just about edged that one. What a good feeling a last minute winner is.

Thought we were given a bit of a run around early on by their movement but we came into it even before Obika replaced the injured Harriot.

Green did well first half but Obika made such a difference.

Looked good 2nd half when we switched to 442. What a difference a strong, fast striker makes and Obika is really a 2nd striker.

Then we switched back to 4231 but we finished the stronger and got a deserved winner.

At times we moved the ball very well but still created few chances. That final ball didn't look like it would come.

    Only it did.

Above the Spanners and confidence must be sky high.

Difficult games coming up but Burnley will attack us which might suit us.

Pleased to see Yann got the good reception he deserved.

Still think this will go to the wire. Yeovil are still fighting and we still need to win our games in hand. See you at Blackpool

Wasn't that pleased with the performance compared to the Huddersfield game. Saying that though was impressed by Bournemouth's commitment and workrate in shutting us down but they couldn't keep that up for 90 minutes.

Without AA and Reza and a bad formation it looked typically like what we have seen this season. Harriott should be eating Francis (always been good going forward and played so far up the pitch tonight) for tea but was awful.

JR changed it early, and it worked. It got us more into the game. Obika made a difference but we still do not create enough chances. One DG effort first 45 and those quick couple that we should have buried in the second.

Lovely goal (not quite sure we deserved the win - but whoever cares!)

Bloody awful first 40 minutes green & harriott terrible, church poor. Obika coming on for harriot improved things immediately.

Much better 2nd half in the end deserved the points.

Great header from Devite 25/1 thank you very much £50 in the bank!!!
  • Riga had the tactics bang on tonight. Pleased for the guy he deserved that result.
  • I think we might see some strange line ups in the next few weeks as he (Jose Riga), gets to know his best players and rests players, trying to play the freshest of what will be a tired bunch. So many games so little time to play them in, I thought March was mad but we've two more in April.

We are certainly not out of the woods, the next three games look difficult however, we have made a statement of intent, not just tonight but the last three. That was a hard fought win and it meant a lot to the players (well done one and all), if we can keep clean sheets we'll keep picking up points and that'll see us right. I cant see us solving the goal scoring drought before the closed season so clean sheets it must be.
  • Think WSS has it spot on. We are shockin up front and are crying out for class wide men. With the possession Poyet and Cousins supply, a decent winger or two would make us a different team.

  • Great result. If that goal had gone in earlier I reckon the result would've been even more comfortable-the players looked well up for it.

Looking forward to Burnley, who will presumably come and attack and not just flood the midfield and try to nick a goal.

    Poyet won't be here long.

    Off to Belgium, is he?

Good point about Yeovil, they won't chuck it in.

What a game that was at Wigan, FIVE GOALS in the last TEN minutes!

Imagine being a Wigan fan and leaving with eight minutes to go happy with a nice 1-0 win....
  • For me it all changed when Callum went off. Until then we were a one trick pony. Obika and Church gave them something to think about at the back and well done to the new Guv for putting on Sordell as well. Really went for the three points and the gamble paid off. Arter has turned into a tidy player and the beast got a moving tribute from the terraces.
Lock Poyet in a broom cupboard until he signs a new deal.
Well done to the diehards who are supporting our midweek home games. It alarms me the way attendances are dropping off over the last few seasons on Tuesday nights. Great to see everyone going nuttybonkers at the end.
  • The Charlton Live commentary is so much better now that they have given it over to our own. Cheerfully biased, the goal commentary was just hilarious.

I have to say that form the commentary I didnt get that the first half was as bad as some have said, and the guys correctly called that Harriott was subbed because of injury, which might in turn explain his apparently poor performance.

Great result. Great to send an updated league table to my Spanner mate who had sent me one when we were bottom.
  • Fantastic scenes on the full time whistle when Jose and his assistant jumped into each other's arms.
    Nice to see.
  • That was a nervy match, though I thought the team grew into it. Both centre backs had massive games and I thought if we were going to score it would be one of them. Phew. My heart sank when I saw the starting line up, I think Green has something to offer coming on as a sub, but he doesn't cut it for me as a starting player, he made some tackles to start with but then played statues on the right whenever some movement was needed. I could see WIlson berating the lack of movement whenever he was trying to get forward, no wonder we end up passing back so much. Right wing isn't Sordell's natural position, but he was a big improvement. First game I've seen with Riga in charge and I liked the early sub - Harriott was being shoved off the ball too easily, Obika lifted the whole team and the last 5 minutes of the first half was the best we'd played up till then. I thought Bournemouth played attractive football, they just lacked a cutting edge (sound familiar? apart from the attractive football of course).
Thought all the defence had good games, Poyet was magnificent and Cousins and Jacko contributed a lot. Was worried when Kermorgant came on that he'd score, but I think the defence coped well with him. I was grateful that the free kick they had was taken by Harte and went comfortably over. The Bournemouth no 20 was excellent, short pacy and skillful and a real handful for Wiggins.
There was a lot of pressure in the last 10 minutes incl stoppage time, and it felt like we ought to score, should have done it from the ping pong of the ball in the area, how that didn't go in? Delighted we did. Clearly meant a lot to the players as well.
I'm a Powell fan with an open mind about Jose Riga - I think he did well today.

    A Salim Kerkar type?
  • The first half was terrible, nice to see Riga notice that and make a sub (I'm assuming Harriot wasn't injured?), Obika looked lively and changed the tempo.

Green didn't show up in the second half, but nice to see Riga remain positive bringing Sordell on opposed to Pritchard (not that you can say many positive things about Marvin!)

Cousins and Jackson worked their socks off, the back four hardly put a foot wrong and Poyet was MOM again, so composed for someone who's only been in the first team for a matter of weeks.

Still lacking creativity and a cutting edge but tonight was all about the three points and you could see what it meant to the lads at the final whistle!
