Matt Derbyshire has signed for Rotherham, nice to know that the teams around us are strengthening early on in the window!!!
On the topic of our own transfers, I'm guessing the O'Grady transfer has either fallen through or never existed in the first place. Surely a week after a fee has been agreed a contract could've been agreed too? Someone did post on Facebook we were in for a defensive midfielder, can't remember the name.
I'm sure i read that everything was in place, wages agreed etc but it was just up to him whether he wanted to come south, which is where it lies with him
FFP isn't the issue with Poyet unfortunately. Simply that he's out of contact and whatever happens is his choice and not ours. Hopefully we show some intent quickly with signings and persuade him to stay at least another year or two.
It's not really just Poyet's decision though is it? If the offers crap then he can't be expected to take it!
Charlton look set to beat a number of Championship clubs to the signing of Le Havre midfielder Distel Zola. #cafc http://t.co/zhyigzGuq6 Could be good. I know we have cousins and poyet but we need strength in depth as well
The rumour first surfaced on twitter on May 24 thanks to a French football website who said he was a target for us, Genk in the Jupiler Pro and FC Metz who just got promoted to French Ligue 1. He's 25 and apparently has one year left on his contract so would command a fee.
On May 27 the same rumoured clubs were mentioned by Le Havre based twitter accounts but since then, that specific rumour went quiet.
That is until yesterday afternoon when @Transfer_News24 who seems to 'specialise' in Championship rumours (but take these accounts with a pinch of salt) tweeted that it was "Charlton & a number of Championship clubs"...
The latest from these twitter rumour accounts (which are usually 14 year old boys in their bedrooms) is that "Charlton are set to beat a number of clubs to his signature" so we'll have to sit tight and see where it goes. We've certainly been interested the longest if the rumours are to be believed.
