  • Poor old Jose.
  • So they were not even paying his assistant coach, things just get even stranger up there.

Still feel sorry for Blackpool fans, they always seemed decent from my experience.
  • Heard he's going to be first team coach at Huddersfield

I would imagine that many foreign managers and players have a few days at home during the international break.

To be fair to Colin, this report in the Blackpool Gazette says much the same. Very interesting stuff in the comments as well, with claims Riga left the club 2 days ago. If he's not been working with the squad for a week, perhaps he's been gone longer.

Feel very sorry for the Blackpool fans with all that's going on up there. Forums are hot with plans for protests at their Cardiff game. :: gets popcorn ::

Football Focus reporting that Riga has gone with Owen Coyle in charge till the end of the season
  • Gutted for Jose but he is well out of it.

He has now realised that English football is a madhouse. I don't think he will want return now.

Poor decision by him to go there, could have done a decent job with a decent championship club but was always on a hiding to nothing. Is Paul Hart still there?

If true Someone needs to quickly call the men with the White Jackets, Coyle clearly needs to be sectioned under the mental health act to go anywhere near that club and owner

Riga would also have the unwanted distinction of being their shortest serving manager taking charge of 6 games and 6 less games than previous holder.........

86 days! That's a long time compared to Brian Clough's 44 days at Leeds, twice as long as Uncle Les' 41 days with us and a lifetime compared to Leroy Rosenior's ten minutes at Torquay.

He got the same number of points as Rosenior, but his goal difference wasn't as good ;-)

it must be one of the fewest games as manager under the same owner
Rosenior I believe only lasted 10 minutes because the club was sold

    And Wigan.
  • T'was never going to be a match made in heaven....more like hell for Jose.

A good, honest man( where have I posted that recently? ) who deserved better from an English Club.

All best wishes to him for his future in football.
  • Pleased in that now I can go back to wishing only bad things for Blackpool under their current owner.

I wonder what the future holds for Riga now? Head of the Charlton Academy perhaps.

Shame his record and reputation are likely to have been badly tarnished through no fault of his own. I still think he is an excellent manager, but would be surprised if he returns quickly to the English game, if ever. I was looking forward to having the chance to show my appreciation to him in the home fixture in December, but that will no longer happen.

Basket case of a club owned by a man who gives the impression of being out of touch with the realities of operating competively and professionally in the Championship.

Good luck, Jose ...... you're a decent manager, but Blackpool need someone who can constantly perform miracles.
