Don't worry folks, remember Danny Mills tells us that once you have premier league B teams in the lower divisions, England will get better. Greg Dyke says it too so it must be true.
We are a million miles away from being good enough to get to even the semis, let alone win the bloody thing. I was 10 going on 11 when we won in 1966 and little did I think it would be more than 5o years at least before it happened again. What a sodding let down.
Exactly the same as me mate. Sadly I think we are going to meet our maker before seeing it again.
1 - Coming out of a disappointing previous World Cup, there are low expectations
2 - we convince ourselves that the next generation of players will be the next golden generation
3 - we get excited about the premier league and argue that it is the best league in the world, forgetting it is actually the second best league in the world and only because of the foreign players
4 - we hire a new manager who we swear will get the tactics and formation right for our world class players
5 - we perform ok in qualifying in an easy group and we demolish some no name country in a friendly leading up to the cup. Our expectations are at an all time unrealistic level.
6 we perform poorly in the cup. Rinse. Repeat.
The problem is that we no longer have the talent to be anything other than the 16th ranked team in the world. We convince ourselves we have world class players but do not have any.

I bet the fucking Germans will have their towels on the pearly gates before we arrive mate :-)

Exactly this. Close the thread - there is nothing to add.
Why does our team do this to us every tournament .
This feeling of despondency is horrible. I know some of you say your not bothered but i'm a proud Englishman and that winner from Suarez was like a knife through the heart.
The game: Gerard was off the pace and it was a tournament too much. Our center half's are poor and we should have took Terry ( i know he has history and is not the future but him and Cahill play club football together) .
Rooney is over hyped and to be fair he cannot hold a light to some of the players in this world cup. i hope he doesn't break that England goalscoring record because he doesn't compare to Lineker or Charlton.
Finally , dont even bother thinking Italy will win both their games because if they beat Costa Rica tommorow they will have qualified top of the group and will rest players for the Uruguay game.
Well that's me done with thr world cup for another 4 years zero interest now.We have let 4 goals in and 3 of them have come from attackers getting on the wrong side of our centre halves. Takin Gerrard and Lampard was a waste of one player, playin Henderson and Gerrard was a waste of one player. We aint good enough, Johnson was shite in South Africa and still 4 years on he is playin.
Personally can't get too worked up. Generally pleased by improved passing since last tournament, and some great skill, including Sturridge tonight in the build up to the goal.
The media were clearly briefed to play down English hopes this time. Secretly everyone hoped, but luck in the games and the group draw meant the FA were right to play the media that way.
Its pointless over analysing a team who've played together for 2 competitive games and 2 warm up games IMO. They're never going to be as fluid as an EPL team.
My expectation in this world cup was zero I wanted to see
Ox barkley sturridge sterling Henderson shaw all play
So I didnt care about the world cup for us I just wanted to enjoy the festival of footie
But what has grated me is the people who have ranted and raved called for rooney to be dropped called him shit and useless
Once again the media the radio media the social medium idiots who jump on the band wagon of ruining players with true talent and making them question their own ability in the middle of a tournament, where the only consideration for the player Should be his play, his own game and ability not questioning his right to be there
This year It was rooney again and this time atleast Wayne answers with a fuck you
A brilliant setup for sturridge and a goal whilst the media darling of the plucky bin dipping cnuts put in a piss poor performance and an even worse captains performance in both games andvyetvwas willing to allow the focus to be on Wayne
I am glad it happened how it did I am glad he finally got found out now hopefully the armband will move to rooney and the young guns can look towards the only talisman we have left
We deserve it - the only player who looked like he deserved to be on that stage was the player the press and a lot of England fans wanted to be dropped! We don't appreciate or understand football so can't value the attributes that set other teams apart. Look at our attempts to clear the ball in a 5 minute spell - just needed a modicum of composure to find a white shirt but it was headless chicken stuff. Was pretty clear the way past Uruguay was to get it wide and drive into the box, but invariably we chose to pass it infield and play aimless balls in that posed no threat. Gerrard was Uruguay's second best player - behind Suarez. Total crap and we need to learn but won't.

5a - We still sell playing fields in our schools and villages and fail to match any other European football power in proportion of UEFA top badges whilst those at the top cream off millions every week.

John terry would've snapped Suarez and his knee in the first five mins
Sadly have to agree after watching our defence in the 1st 2 games. Think Johnson, Cahill, Terry and Cole would have given us defensive stability. Gerards legs are gone and shouldn't have played either.

At least you'll have seen it once, spare a thought for those of us born a year or two after and have seen 40 odd years of this rubbish with nothing to show for it.
For the youngster out there, I feel for you as you have another 4 or 5 tournaments where your hope will trump your realism which only makes it worse in the long term...
If Roy Keane was still on itv as a pundit I am sure he would of said what was needed to be said about our captain. Gerrard is woeful for England, he may drive his Liverpool team on against Milan but he has never carried that passion over when he plays for England. Hopefully that was his last appearance and we can move on and drop a few of these talkers

Then there was a blatant penalty.

Instead of bloating the obscene salaries of pampered wimps and bad-acting under-achievers and all the structure behind them at the sweet FA

Fuck The World cup.
Oh well. One day eh....

It will probably come back to being the media's fault for putting pressure on them or fans expecting to much. We are just quite simply SHIT.
Sorted for you
