I don't feel that Ajose has been given a fair try really. Just hasn't worked out for him with Slade's overly defensive and non creative tactics and now KR's formation preference
I don't think that he tries hard enough. Its funny because I live in Peterborough and locals laughed when we signed him, and asked why we signed him as his attitude stinks..
Just watched the pre-Millwall press conference on YouTube. I like him. Appears to be talking straight and very (overly?) positive. Refreshing after some of Slade's Marvin the Paranoid Android impersonations.
Ajose has scored 7 goals in a team that creates very few chances and was never set up to play to his strengths.
He deserves a go in a more attacking set up. You don't fluke 25 goals at this level, and I honestly believe that if we use him correctly and give him some service he will get 15-20 this season.
My thoughts exactly. Yes, he has missed some sitters, but all strikers do, the good thing is he is getting in those positions in the first place.
If we are able to accommodate him into the team, I think he will score a few. His all round game isn't like other players we have, but Robinson has said he wants to score a lot of goals, why would it make sense to get rid of someone who has proven to score a lot in this league?
Personally hope he stays, as we may regret it if he goes to another team and bangs them in.
Just have to see how these next couple of weeks or so play out.
the finish v millwall and the goal v port vale I don't believe any other striker at the club would finish.
To write him off after 5 months with little supply is a tad premature in my eyes

I cant think of that many sitters that he's actually missed.
I remember a one-on-one he got for himself very early days in the season yet hit that wide whilst he also missed a header against Chesterfield (?) yet dont think he's ever scored a proper header before in his career (Sorry but his first goal against Walsall wasnt a header, the ball hit him in the face).

I think people are misunderstanding me a little.
I think he's a good striker and will do well for us with given the chance. He's a predator, he has scored goals at this level.
I've gone on record saying I think he will score and completely agree with the positive comments about him.
He has missed a few sitters, I can't remember which game but it came at him quite quickly in front of the Covered End and he missed an open goal I believe. But the fact is he got himself into those positions. That's a good thing.
I also said I personally hope he stays as we may regret it if he leaves.
Did not realise he had scored 7. On that basis and now playing more attacking football he should end up with 15 to 20 goals. Happy with that, and even happier if he scores them all Saturday.
You have to be able to change a game and change formation. 4231 is fine, but when we're pushing late for a goal Ajose would be perfect to come on alongside Magennis. Apart from them two and Watt, there's not exactly much depth up front bar kids. I'd keep him.

That's the problem when you change managers to one with a diffferent tactical philosophy...
I dunno, he came in under Slade, but then he didn't seem to have the first idea how to utilise Ajose properly. Clearly we didn't create enough chances in general with Slade, but Ajose scored most of his goals last season running on to balls and Slade doesn't play that way, so it was an odd purchase IMO. Unless of course, we were already down the road to signing him before Slade arrived, so he had little choice.
Ajose's scoring record seemed to be a knack of pouncing on loose balls in the box, not sure he adds a lot beyond that.
I wouldn't disagree but there is a place for a poacher type in many teams. Unfortunately most of the balls coming into the box under slade were high and not the kind of ball Ajose is going to be on the end of. It just puzzles me why Slade bought him (if he did).
Just watched the interview and found him very open minded which is refreshing can certainly talk the talk and I feel that he will bring the results as well. Looking at the snow feel that I really want the game to go ahead feel we will win. coyr

The difference to me, is that while Slade struggled to get the best out of him, he at least played 4-4-2 some of the time, whereas Robinson has a favoured formation where a pure goal poacher doesn't really fit in

collapsed on the pitch at the end of the game after playing injured for some of the 2nd half. Was helped off the pitch. No news on what the injury was but looked like the ankle.
