  • RS | "There should be a very good atmosphere on Saturday, Gillingham have a tight ground, and hopefully we can get the three points." #cafc

RS | "We'll have to run our eye over Jason Pearce before Saturday's game. Ademola Lookman came off with a tight hamstring on Tuesday. #cafc

RS |"We have got an honest group and that is the good thing. Morgan and Harry both put their hands up in the dressing room afterwards. #cafc

RS | "I was pleased with our work in that first period and on another day we could have been two or three goals up at half time. #cafc

RS | "The first half on Tuesday - and this is the frustration, really - was probably the best we’ve played this season. #cafc

RS | "We're disappointed that we haven’t picked up six points from our last two games. We’ll be looking to improve again on Saturday. #cafc

RS | "It will be a tough game; will have the feeling of a local derby. Form can sometimes go out of the window from that point of view #cafc

RS | "It’s all about the next game and a reaction and I’m sure Justin will be looking for that from his team, as we will. #cafc

PRESS DAY | The Manager has arrived for his pre-match presser... #cafc

PRESS DAY | Manager Russell Slade is about to sit down with the local media to look ahead to Saturday's match at @TheGillsFC #cafc
  • So, no retrospective apology for his petulant swipe at the fans on Tuesday then?
  • Has his missus kicked him out?

  • Feel of a local derby where form can go out of the window. Thank God for that.
  • What does he mean "the feel of a local derby. It is a local derby?

Depends if you have "the feel" that Charlton is in Kent.
  • Well there are plenty of "derby" matches touted around in football where the clubs are further apart than Charlton and Gillingham
  • Well there are plenty of "derby" matches touted around in football where the clubs are further apart than Charlton and Gillingham

    True enough.
But in this instance, despite the distance between the two clubs there's no Derby about it. Gillingham fans will agree with that.

Last time we were in league one and we hadn't played gillingham In years and despite that our first encounter in a while came around and the game had no 'Derby feel' to it. Sure they sold the away end out as did we in the reverse fixture , but that's about it.
Nobody losses sleep the night before we play gills.

Compare any game against gills to the epic battles with West Ham, the atmosphere from the away end when we play millwall or palace from both sets of fans and then you'll see my point. It means so much more to so many more fans when we play against these teams.

    Gillingham, just another game.

I surely can't be the only one to see this can I?

We just need to sign a player called Pop now.....
  • For some reason I couldn't insert the photos of RS and Cheggers into the above quote from Lord Romford!

So what's gonna happen today (Thursday 17th). Will there be one @Ollywozere ? Who will face the world's press? Will it be an indicator of things to come...? Exciting times...(huh)...

They said no more questions until a manager has been appointed.
  • I heard they're hiring in Shay Given.

Slightly over exaggerating the far reaching appeal of a charlton press conference i think!
  • So, how did today's press day go?

    Sorry, no questions please!
  • Can't be bothered to post them in the right order or delete all the guff due to handful of CARD hooligans and the protests that are killing the club so read from the bottom

  • 'KR | "We are looking to enhance our options in midfield. We could do with a number 10 as well, in case we want to chance our system. '

I am glad he has identified this. I believe the link play between midfield and attack, especially through the middle of the park, has been the weakest aspect of our team for a fair few years.

But has Kat agreed with him on this issue & confirmed that funds will be made available ?

Or is this his way of letting her know that he expects some dosh to strengthen the squad ?

He would be a very poor manager indeed if he couldn't identify the problems which are painfully obvious to thousands of Charlton fans with zero coaching qualifications.

What's possibly more important is that he has said it out loud, at a press conference, which is where previous managers have come unstuck. We shall see if his Belgian overlords contradict him with their usual "We have enough players, you can only play 11" guff or if they actually back him to correct the deficiencies in January. I'm not holding my breath.
  • "The backroom staff have worked their socks off since I joined the club. I really want to thank them all for their help so far."

Well, that's just buggered up the Secret Santa surprise for KN, JE and the wondrous CO'L...
  • The last tweet was the most telling for me re:the under 23s. That's where you're getting your number 10 and strengthening the midfield from in Jan Karl. That or looking at the free agent market that did so well for us in the 2nd half of last season......
