  • West Indies in real trouble against Ireland at 90-5 off 24.

George Dockrell 3-23 so far. Surely he must be on England's radar as he's only 22 and as good as any spinner we've got.

West Indies made a great recovery to post 304-7 from their 50 overs (124 from the last 10 overs).

    Simmons scored 102 (84) and Sammy 89 (67)

Highlights from the WI v Ire game.

Looks like Morgan has been Englandised.
  • Amazing, Ireland pull one out of the bag again !
Could this potentially affect us ? Actually, thinking about it, it could mean Ireland coming fourth in their group and giving Oz an easy Quarter-final game !!

West Indies are a disgrace in the field .. bunch of sulkers and quitters .. Windies cricket is at a very low ebb .. I don't think it will ever recover

There has only been 5 successful chases of 300+ in World Cups and Ireland have done 3 of them !!!

There'll be plenty more, so much has changed, equipment and playing conditions; it's a totally different game now. 300 these days is only a par score.

Its not for us - 250 is still the par . Where's Trott when you need him to 'anchor' the innings !

Watched the Ireland game this morning and was delighted with how they started off. Some great bowling and fielding in the early stages, but I thought they'd let it slip as Windies came back in the second half of their innings.

Magnificent chase down of the target, although a bit of a wobble as well in the middle. Comfortable in the end. Some great sluggers in the Irish team.

Makes a mockery of the decision to reduce the tournament to just 10 teams from the next World Cup. How do you go about spreading the game to the world by trying to make it a closed shop of the test playing nations and a couple of token places for the outsiders.

Ireland only have to beat Zimbabwe and UAE(?) now to all but qualify in fourth place.

I think it's a difficult one. They get criticised for making the tournament too long by inviting too many minnows but then will draw the above criticism when they do cut it down. Here's an interesting article I read about the format and the problems it has to overcome in India.

A good read Callum, thanks. Just goes to show though that the interest is not in widening access to the game, but self-serving India's own preservation.
  • Oh dear Scotland off to a shocker at 1-2 with Boult on a hattrick. Five slips and a gully for it.....................but he bowls the wrong line and it swings harmlessly away.

  • Might get some sleep tonight the way things are going for Scotland.

12-4 this time Southee with two in two balls.

  • Canada have the distinction of having the first AND second lowest totals:

    36 v Sri Lanka in 2003 & 45 v England in 1979.

Didn't Scotland thrash Ireland the other day?

Yep. 296 vs 117. Machan, who plays for Sussex, got a ton in that game and is currently 24* out of 40-4.

NZ made a huge meal of that run chase but I can't see them being that far off their game in a few days time.

To be fair I think they gave away a few of the wickets in a sacrifice to getting a good net run rate.
  • Does anyone know how the bonus point works?
