  • Woakes almost gets a first baller on his toes but digs it out more by luck than judgement... incredible swing. I know we're not very good anyway but I'm starting to wonder if it's just one of those days.
  • Woakes bowled now. 110-7
  • 110-7 getting embarrassing guys
  • Southee has 5-26 from 6.4 overs.
  • Broad to save the day lol.

Four of Southee's wicket have been bowled and the other caught behind. All (with maybe the exception of Buttler who went chasing a wider one) have swung just enough to mean that our batsmen can do almost nothing about them.

On replay, I take back what I said about Buttler "chasing a wide one". It was possibly a rash shot in the circumstances but it was more of a straight drive that caught the edge than a waft outside off-stump.
  • 114-7, 30 overs

  • reckon we might just about make 130
  • Broad just loops it up to mid-off. 116-8, 30.4 overs.

Just Finn and Anderson left with Root. :-)
  • initially thought this would finish about 9ish
reckon it could be done by 6 now

    Trying to take positives.

-Our only two games so far have been against the two hosts in their backyard. Not exactly easy.
-If we can beat Sri Lanka as well as the three minnows, we can still finish 3rd in our group and play 2nd in Group B (likely India who we have one over on at the minute)
-Southee's bowling is near unplayable at the minute. Sometimes I think you just have to hold your hands up.
  • Need to make 142 or we are worse than Scotland. Bloody Hell. The shame.
Something is seriously wrong with English cricket.

not just worse than Scotland but the lowest score so far in the tournament
  • 117-9. Southee has a seventh. Stupid batting there but not expecting much more from a number 10.

Root just sighs at the other end.
  • Southee has the third best bowling figures in WC history. If he gets an eighth, they become the best figures in WC history.

Root crunches a boundary off Milne.

And then top edges one to fine leg. England are all out for 123.

    all out for 123

    well done England :-1:
  • what a joke.
  • ok, so the ball is moving around & we have a couple of bowlers who are supposed to be the best with the swinging ball so I expect us to have New Zealand 5 down before they reach 100................

yeah right !! The will come out & reach the 124 needed within 20 overs.
  • From 104-3 to 123 all out.
  • 123 All Out.
Well done Joe Root, the rest can hang their heads in shame.
Yes NZ bowled well but England's batsmen were pathetic.
  • First ball of the NZ innings....... wide.
  • Fair play to Southee for a fantastic bowling performance but that's the worst batting performance I've ever seen & that's saying something as an England fan!

I really don't know where England go from here (apart from home).

I think a total overhaul is required of the 1 day side after the world cup. Pick the best youngsters in County 1 day & T20 cricket and just let them go & play without fear.

Stuart Broad should just come home now as he's clearly not interested!

Don't know what else to say. I'm tired, irritable and thoroughly pissed off. Good night!
  • NZ 9-0, 1 over.
  • First over gone for 9. Could be over before lunch.
  • NZ 27-0, 2 overs.
