The clip of Luzon getting excited at a game is insightful in my view.
What we see in the clip is what the journalists call unbridled passion, not the cool reaction of professional satisfaction, a manager, doing a job, being professional and giving his best to his employer, but a bloke who is into, totally caught up in, emotional about, whatever has or is occurring.
So I am thinking why would he want to manage Charlton Athletic.
If he is presented as a manager, doing a job, being professional and giving his best to his employer, then OK, the cool objective Jose Riga approach is it? O sort of K sort of.
So where is all that excitability supposed to go? Is the received wisdom that of course he will 'fall in love' with Charlton Athletic, a job he has waited all his life for, and he will run and leap around excitedly on our Valley pitch if we get so much as a throw in in the opponent's half? Has he found his spiritual home so much so that he is prepared to have 'greenie junior' tattooed on his arse?
So I am thinking is all that charging about showboating and self promotion, is it a display of incaution that reveals a character likely to make impulsive and emotional managerial decision, is it the actions of a bloke who is in control, not in control? The interview clip suggests that to him 'it is no co-incidence' that all decisions go against Standard Liege, paranoia? Cool analysis?
Anyway I am still thinking why would he want to manage Charlton Athletic, why should he give a damn?
Like many on here I do not want Luzon as CAFC manager .. and also as with the majority on here, IF he becomes manager then he and the team will get my support as usual .. 100% from the start and staying so or perhaps diminishing if we lose the next 15 games and are relegated
So conversely, if he starts winning gets us into the play offs, he will be your hero!!

I've heard the stories of 'troubles' at Liege gameswhen Guy Luzon was in charge, would Alan Pardew or Ian Dowies appointment as Charlton manager have caused as much fuss, or who would be the British equivalent of Guy Luzon?

Because he hasn't got a job. Because he is being paid by Duchatelet. Because he does as he is told for his employer.

Well yes of course. I suppose it could be any club couldn't it? Certainly any club in the network, and he will do as he is told which presumably is what Bob Peeters was also doing, doing as he is told for his employer. At least we would agree that a current Charlton manager is obliged to work according to Mr D's plan and therefore is unlikely to have the chance to make an autonomous decision. I wonder if such an apparently emotionally driven manager as Guy Luzon is prepared to sacrifice his autonomy, or if there will be tensions because he actually wants success for his new love Charlton Athletic, and the employers constraints will impact him at an emotional level.
Seems to me that RD is doing everything in his power to be hated by all. Don't see it being a very happy Valley if Luzon is appointed, regardless of the sentiment of 100% support.
Seeing the clip of Luzon celebrate makes me like him already. Seeing Bob Peeters playing interviewer on Belgian TV made me like him too. Seeing Riga's demeanour when he started the job made me like him. Seeing Chris Powell ...need I say more. Anyway Luzon is the preferred choice it seems and I would rather him than the usual merry go round lot who belong to the ex managers club who tweet, play pundit, employ agents to do their bidding etc . I think a basic agreement has to be made by us all that Luzon is experienced , has had success at significant level, shows passion , has had some failure too and that taking a punt on him is no better or worse than most other would be manager. Working for duchatelet or working for whoever means nothing to me. Anyone taking this job wants success and will do his best to achieve it even if in self interest. So bring him in and let him be in charge for Watford. Can't wait.
So first rather than just post your feelings in the Bobs gone thread, you started your always an addick thread. Now your 100% support thread for somebody who as yet isn't our manager. You really have a look at me complex.

It's highly likely that whatever he gets paid by Roland is significantly more than he would get managing a tin pot club in his own country. I'm sure that's worth sacrificing his autonomy for.
Yes, that is a joke but I'm going to back him like I would any new manager (unless it was Dowie).
I don't know much about him, his record doesn't excite me and I'd rather have Jones or number of other people but if he is Charlton boss then I'll want him to succeed.
I feel completely disheartened by this appointment. Same as I did when kermorgant was sold. And Powell sacked, and riga appointed and peeters and every single time I see xxxx has signed on a x year deal from standard liege. I always renew first chance and pay the full amount up front and probably will in a couple of months time. So how else do I show my utter contempt for the circus running the club?
I despaired when I heard Duchatelet talk when he first bought us to use as some sort of experiment then flooded the squad with crap from Europe. I don't buy all this bullshit with katrien miere either. She's another glove puppet who smiles and basically says 'I'd like to do what he fans want but Roland won't let me' and that just sounds weak.
It's a tough one because without this Dr evil belgian running us we would have gone into administration last season and would truly be in the shit. I just don't like the way we're being run and being used as a redeployment pool for all of standard lieges failures
He will get my support until I feel he no longer deserves it, I hope that day never comes and that we end up moaning as he leaves us for Real Madrid after guiding us to the premier league and a 4th place finish. All the moaning in the world will not change this, RD has made his decision, better to get behind him for the time being, however, I do feel KM & RD have played us like fools.......that is not good, how DM & BR must feel being used like that?
Very mixed feelings. Not sure if I can be 100% behind Luzon, but I'm 100% behind the team and every other Addick.
If he proves his worth then respect will be earned and I'll happily back him to the hilt. We need time to see what he can do - let's give him a chance to turn things around.
@waldo is 'Flemish Henry' an official language these days? I thought the only official languages of Belgium were Dutch, French, German and double speak!
Nope, he will play the cast offs from standard liege like a good boy in the mean time we sail down the abyss
If people are not concerned, you either have amazing powers of blind optimism, don't go or you know more than I do and I've got shit in my eyes
Sailing down the abyss was exactly where were going under Jimenez and Slater though. We'd be back in league one already if it wasn't for RD. Can't deny at being concerned though, firstly because the club have clearly lied during the past few days. This was obviously sorted out a while ago and also because i don't see how Luzon is any better than Peeters.
However this doesn't mean we shouldn't get behind Luzon and support him and the team.
Of course he will get 100% support as will the players, I just getting sick of all this network bollocks, our club just doesn't feel like our club anymore...
