  • Gone are the days where you could have ‘banter’ and if someone said something like he (allegedly) did about not having boxers under his jeans you could just think he was a dirty old man.
I know we have to draw a line somewhere but imho it’s getting a bit silly.
I hope when I’m famous you don’t all bring up the number of times I’ve said the word cock.

We'll only bring it up for the times you said "I like" before it!
  • My besties husband was on MC a few years ago & when I asked him what it was like his immediate reaction was to tell me Greg was an absolute tw@t. He had a pair of trainers on that were limited edition, something to do with The Who & Greg said, ‘there nice trainers’ to which my mates hubby replied, ‘thanks, they’re blah blah blah’. Wallace immediately got them to stop filming & then when it started again, Greg kicks off with, ‘they’re nice trainers……are they limited edition blah blah blah?’
Apparently the whole thing is pretty fake, lots of cold food eaten etc etc.
I still watch the Professional one though 🤣🤣
  • Wasn’t he a greengrocer at one time? Probably arranged his apples and bananas displays artfully
  • Wasn’t he a greengrocer at one time? Probably arranged his apples and bananas displays artfully
To be serious though, where do you draw the line? Some people may be offended by my ‘apples and bananas’ comment. His career will probably be ruined.

I've always wondered that.  They all cook for 90 mins then they all stop at the same time.  The one who's plate gets tasted first is clearly at an advantage.

I've been enjoying Marcus' and Monica's skill tests in the Professionals.
  • I think where you draw the line in the last 20 years is different to where you drew the line before that. There's a reason for it and you either live with that change or risk ruining your career.

In 2035, this conversation will revolve around a new line...

I have also heard Wallace is a twat and that at an event attended by people I know, Torode has had to distance himself from him (sniff sniff).

Today, if you tell a junior member of staff that you aren't wearing boxers, then that is abuse of power, because you only say it for one reason (it's rarely "banter").

If you are going to tell rude jokes - know your audience.

Is he a nonce? Probably not. Is he is dickhead? Yes.

I think things like that are alright until they aren't. Someone at my wife's work got the boot recently, and his crimes included a bunch of inappropriate comments. From what I heard they were far less bad than what I say to people, it's just that they all didn't like him. If the tide ever turns against me at work I'm screwed!

Perhaps someone higher up got sick of Greg, now suddenly everything about him is bad, when before he got away with it
  • He's Millwall and always been a bit nonce-y.

When he started on MasterChef he knew fuck all about cooking and just used to shout "laaaaaverrrlllleeee" after every dessert. Nearly 20 years later and he's exactly the same

I doubt the mods take any notice however just to confirm it was 326 times before today so this one makes 327 😉

He could be wearing Y fronts? 🤓

In which case he deserves everything he has coming to him.

I think with some people you get the ‘creep’ vibe rather than banter. Makes the whole thing a minefield. I’m from the generation where I had a boss put his hand on my knee under the table and another get his knob out while I was trying to make an announcement on the microphone to the whole building. The first one was a creep and the flasher made me laugh.

  • You shouldn't kick a man when he is down but, well, sometimes they deserve it...

I remember reading that & thinking ‘wtaf’.
    Why would anyone marry that?

Think that's exactly it tbh, the guy gave creepy vibes especially to the younger women in the office, whereas I probably just give off "asexual bin fire" vibes

It won’t ruin his career just like it didn’t ruin his career when similar problems came up on Inside the Factory. He might take some time out but within the next 2 years he’ll do something like I’m a Celeb to rehabilitate himself and he’ll become ok again. He’ll have a different career sure but it won’t be ruined
  • Honestly have felt like the main series of MasterChef has been in need of a freshen up in terms of judging for a while now. Still really enjoy the Professionals with Marcus Waring and Monica but the amateur one has felt a bit stale with the same judges for 20 years or however long it is.

I watched an episode recently and a female contestant starting laughing at a comment he made because it sounded like an inuendo and he didnt even raise a smile. He must have known this was coming.

Agree. Love the skills test on Professionals. The 'normal' show however feels very stale. They briefly attempted to tart it up a couple of years ago with the first round being cooked without Wallace and Torode roaming around but with the other contestants watching and occasionally muttering what felt like very forced conversation or shouting 'You got this!' or other such bollox.

The BBC is a sterile corporation. It's a tragedy that we're forced to pay the licence fee.

I've worked with Gregg and yes he's a twat and bit of a dinosaur. However, he's got character and is generally harmless.

Kirsty Wark from Newsnight says, "there were two occasions in particular where he used sexualised language" and" I think people were uncomfortable".

If you're going to make the statement, tell the full story. What did he say and who felt uncomfortable. Let people decide for themselves.

Kirsty Wark is married to someone who is rather snide and a bit of a clown, so dealing with Gregg Wallace should be a breeze.

To be fair to her libel laws here make that incredibly hard. If there’s no video or audio proof of him saying whatever it is he could easily sue her. If you want to find out some of the things he said two example were shared in popbitch a while ago and they’re both pretty grim

They've very much tried to take a bit of the Aussie and US versions of Masterchef to refresh it but it doesn't work.  The Aussie version with Gary, George & Matt was bloody awesome (although that was a good few seasons ago now, George left under a cloud and his mates followed him out of the door!)
  • Auntie Beeebee has decided that Masterchef/Wallace is SOOOOO very important to us all that it is now the headline, first mentioned item on its radio news clips .. f f s navel gazing at its best
  • The Oz one is absolutely mental, feels like they trap them in that warehouse for about 3 months

According to Kirsty there was a room full of people, so it wouldn't just be her word against his.

As a teenager, it was my dream to work for the BBC and that was shatteted.
Working in and around the industry, you quickly figure out who is what and why things happen.

The BBC is a hostile and stagnated place. There's a reason they use the same portfolio of talent over and over again.

The most offensive thing I found about him was when he used to taste the food he would then make loud chewing sounds and slurps whilst staring straight at the contestant in the eyes before saying something along the lines of "luvly" or "tasty" or "cor that's a bit of me" or "I would smash the living daylights out of that souffle any day of the week"
