Oh dear, he’s in a hole and he just keeps digging, what an idiot, isn’t there anyone advising him.
Yeah but his PA is a woman so at a guess he's not listening.
  • "I'm not a misogynist, middle aged women are the problem" isn't the defence he thinks it is.
  • The worrying thing is people have probably called him out before , but it takes someone like Kirsty Wark to speak out for authorities to take it seriously.
  • Can see him standing for Reform in South Bermondsey at the next election.!
Can’t imagine they’ll get too many votes in that constituency!
  • Not helping his case is he.
  • I could name a whole heap of female talent that the BBC regularly use and who love a sexual innuendo.
Dawn French, Miriam Margolyes and Jo Brand to mention a few.
Gregg Wallace is a knob, but you are one hundred times more likey to offend a woman with a sexual joke than a man.

    Stayed in the 1980’s
Oh is that it? Absolutely pathetic.
I can't decide whether you're just looking for a response or genuinely don't understand why his behaviour has (finally) resulted in consequences for him and his career.

But, even if we ignore the decade plus history of inappropriate and unwelcome comments in the workplace (many to much junior colleagues), he's also alleged to have simulated sex acts on female workers on the show, touched up others and danced around the studio wearing only a sock over his knob.

I've no idea what your workplace is like, but I'm pretty sure, even back in the 1980's when I entered the workplace, this sort of thing would have been frowned upon as a minimum, let alone be excused as banter or woke nonsense some 40 years later.

This is not to say I don't muck about, take the mickey, make innuendos, etc. with colleagues myself. I do. It's just I'd never dream of doing it with a person I had no existing relationship with, if it placed them in an embarrassing or awkward situation or essentially abused the workplace power imbalance.
ALLEGED so nothing is proven then? Until it is then as i said absolutely pathetic. Why didnt these so called victims say anything at the time?

They did and he was given multiple warnings and didn’t stop
  • I think there should be a I am a cancelled celebrity show and the winner gets redemption .So Gregg( 2gs) ,Barrowman ( 2rs) ,Danny(2ns) Baker etc to star..not to mention various dancers from strictly

On a serious note Wallace has always struck me as a bit affected in some way .It seems as if he has some kind of unpleasant behavioural issue once you scratch a very superficial surface.

I think he should disappear quietly into obscurity and think himself lucky that he's made a very good living with so little talent
  • If the inappropriate behaviour was as consistent as we are being told it was, I find it hard to believe that BBC execs didn’t know about it. Would seem once again, the bbc covering up/turning a blind eye/not caring about noncey behaviour. Questions need to be asked about John Torode as well. It’s been reported that he didn’t like him and one now assumes that the reason could have been because of his behaviour. Why didn’t he speak out if that was the case. Same question to his fellow presenters.

Such a poor slur. I’m surprised you didn’t manage to squeeze “boomer” in.

My own feelings on this whole affair are a little complicated. Feels like Al Capone being done for tax evasion a bit. I don't like GW and find him to be a boorish, condescending twat at the best of times, BUT, I don't think anything about these allegations contradicts anything about his public-facing personality at all. And so there's a hypocrisy at play. The BBC chose this gurning ham, this exaggerated Mowow geeza to front their food programming many years ago, and he's essentially just being what they wanted him to be. On the one hand, serves them right for not picking someone who's a bit more knowledgeable about food, but on the other, you go for the Lascivious Everyman, well fine but this is how it was always going to play out eventually. It's just ultimately really boring how this is playing out, a sort of dance where everyone knew all the moves years ago
I'm not sure that's fair, it plays on the assumption that any everyman is a bit lascivious which I would disagree with. The real issue here is not dealing with it sooner when he didn't learn his lesson

Not my assumption at all. But the BBC clearly wanted someone to play that exact role, which I'd agree is a cliché, and a damaging one
  • Wallace has just poured oil on the fire, what an idiotic thing to say! He says he's not misogynistic then makes a misogynistic statement!
In today's world you must know your audience, it's been like this for a few years!
I'm very careful now, and rightly so, what I say, as I used to make innuendo comments back in the day. I still do, but to people I know!
Finally, people digging out the Beeb again, seem to forget, complaints have been made against him, while on Ch 5, and other commercial stations. There's obviously a pattern here, and although everything is alleged, can it really be 'all made up'?

  • He’s just issued another statement apologising for yesterdays comments

I mean its very possible that what they were after was someone with that sort of persona who could play up to the cameras a bit without actually going and sexually harassing people on set and behind the scenes.

It's not just a few off colour jokes, it's active sexual harassment or even assault. There's a line you can draw and he seems to have jumped way over it.
Of course. I'm just saying that the BBC have encouraged this for years and they're reacting with a really really hollow-ringing surprise now they're getting called out for it
