D/L method is a joke
Was trying to read up on how D/L is calculated and came across this, thought it was really interesting.
It'd be fantastic if it could be extended to other stages of an innings (not just 30 overs), eventually covering all possibilities.
As it is, had England's innings chase been 30 overs long, their target would've been one of the following:
114-0
134-1
149-2
164-3
174-4
184-5
204-6
219-7
254-8
279-9
(target increases with each wicket lost)
121 required from 84 balls
Bairstow 14(17)
Billings 16(13)
81 required from 60 balls
Bairstow 35 (31)
Billings 33 (24)
71 required from 54 balls
Bairstow 39 (34)
Billings 39 (26)
Billings gone for 41 (c Taylor b Henry).
67 required from 50 balls
66 required from 48 balls
Bairstow 39 (35)
Willey 1 (1)
62 required from 42 balls
Bairstow 42 (37)
Willey 2 (5)
54 required from 36 balls
Bairstow 45 (40)
Willey 7 (8)
Willey gone for 7 (c Santner b Wheeler)
54 required from 35 balls
49 required from 30 balls
Bairstow 50 (45)
