Elizabeth line services through London have been suspended because of a swan on the track at Paddington.
Passengers on board a number of services said they had been told the bird was blocking part of the route.
Transport for London (TfL) said there was "an obstruction" on the track which had halted trains between Heathrow Airport in west London and Abbey Wood in south-east London.

hopefully the stonking success of the elizabeth line after all the delays will get crossrail 2 off ice.2

Not while we have a Tory Govt and a Labour mayor.0

The Elizabeth line has lost its crown as the UK’s most punctual railway.
Latest figures from the Office of Rail and Road show that only 82.5 per cent of its trains arrived on time between April and June – down 5.6 points on the first three months of the year.
This meant the Elizabeth line fell from first to second place in the national train punctuality league table.

When it has issues it really does bung up both ways. Swans on the track was a good one. Carnival revellers trespassing on the line was another more recently- both in the Paddington area. How on earth are animals and people getting on the track so apparently easily?!
Other times it has come to a standstill and i've been lucky to have access to other lines at those stations to finish my journey. Does feel a lot less reliable than it should do on the whole.1 -
A lot to do with the Paddington to Reading/Heathrow section being a mess and Network Rail not sorting it.2

By the same token the figures for South Eastern hide an important fact: HS1 as a line is easily the most punctual and reliable in the UK. The SE figure presumably combines the Javelin services with the daily shit-show most Lifers experience on the suburban network. That’s why new-build lines are worth the investment. Hardly surprising when they replace something “160 years old”.6 -
Anyone know if the Elizabeth line is running on Saturday? South Eastern are completely shutting down.
Cheers

Funny that nobody foresaw this! Transport and health planners are among the most stupid people in the world. Along with VAR and other referees 🙂2

Greenwich Council still owes £4.4million towards Woolwich’s Elizabeth Line station with less than two years left to pay the bill, documents to be put before senior councillors reveal.
The council agreed to pay £15 million towards the cost of the station a decade ago in a complex deal involving City Hall and Berkeley Homes because neither the Westminster government nor Transport for London included a station in the original plans for Crossrail.

The council tax for 3 months of the local builds will cover that0

Now we know the real reason fir the parking restriction extension!2

“No other London borough had to pay towards having an Elizabeth Line station”.Have I missed something in the article. How comes no other borough had to pay for a station?1

That sounds awful. Obviously glad i was home today and not using it.
The line seems to be severely lacking reliability, and resilience compared to others. I'm no engineer but maybe too many corners have been cut in the design and building stages. For example (and not necessarily relevant to tonight) i'd expect a broken down train could be cleared into a siding, but there don't seem to be any such sidings. Isn't that what happens on other lines?
Also the incidents of trespass seem high. Swans on the track at Paddington caused my train to reverse on one occasion, back to Woolwich, and on Carnival weekend we had trespassers on the line at Ladbroke Grove meaning the whole line was closed. People and animals shouldn't be able to wander onto the tracks. When it's bad it's really bad and my confidence in the line is falling.0
