  • Oh shit, I'm a glass half empty type at the best of times. Shall turn off the tv an close the curtains in my dark room.
  • Are we shit again?

Been trying to avoid it today...
  • Captain's innings from Cook?

    (He'll be out soon now..)

Yes but not as bad as we were an hour ago when we were 30-4. Stokesy and Cooky are batting very well and have taken it to 78.

Just another 289 and we will have avoided the fall on.
  • 85-4 at the close.

I thought Cook & Stokes batted very well and were in little danger. I didn't want to comment at the time, as you know they would be straight out.

Lyth looks out of his depth and Ballance & Bell bottled it (no surprise).

Root didn't bottle it, but Mitch Johnson definitely shook him up.

I'm going tomorrow. I hope to see us get the target 367.

Yea I agree if we avoid the follow on we would have done amazing. Tall order though.
  • Cook to bat all day, and hopefully when the Australian seamers start flagging by mid afternoon, the lower order can take them apart.

Unless of course Lyon is a massive threat to the left handers, then...
  • Kevin who?

    Kevin where?

  • Gonna piss down Sunday. Might give us a chance. Personally I think we'll bottle this. How do I know? my mate's going tomorrow and he's the unluckiest bastard walking.

  • Cook is the key, it's made for his strengths. Hopefully he can stick around.
  • Forecast has cleared up for Sunday so we'll need a miracle to not lose this
  • Need to bat to tomorrow lunchtime, hopefully longer, to stand any chance of getting a draw. If we do manage that then to win the Convicts have to bat even more aggressively to set a target. They can't afford the time to set an overly safe declaration so the game could still be a foot.

All that is based on our ability to score another three hundred runs though

  • Would love to see us show some good fight and bat as deep as we know we can. 400 will put us in a good position to fight for the draw.
  • 130-4

    Stokes 61*
    Cook 40*
  • These two need to bat all day
  • 175-5

    Stokes b Marsh 87
  • 181-5 at lunch.
  • 210-6

    Buttler c Nevill b Lyon 13
  • Buttler's place is in serious danger given Bairstow's formidable form

  • Is Bairstow a wicketkeeper then? I'd have thought Ian Bell is under more pressure than Buttler
  • Cook dragged onto his stumps.................

    Cook b Marsh 96
  • Geoffrey Boycott going mad on TMS about that
  • Buttler's place is in serious danger given Bairstow's formidable form

Completely disagree, Buttler is class and will keep getting better.
  • Gutted about Cook, think he deserved a ton but more importantly we needed him to stick around to 150odd to reach 367.
  • New ball taken at 80 overs.
  • 285-7 at tea.
  • 82 runs needed to avoid follow on.
  • 82 runs needed to avoid follow on.

    Will the Aussies enforce it?
  • 82 runs needed to avoid follow on.

I think the follow-on issue is irrelevant. Can't see Aussie enforcing it now.
