This test is bringing back memories of Waugh, Boon and Taylor batting us off the park in the 80's and 90's. Can't see anything but an Australian win :-(
England bossed the 1st test and won, playing attacking cricket. Australia are bossing the 2nd test and playing attacking cricket. This is normally what makes a great series. To and fro. Plus taking the piss out of Mitchell Johnson in the 1st test was poor. Wait till your 4 tests up. Whether it football or Cricket, the English problem of thinking we're the Dog's Bollocks as soon as we win one game strikes again. As for Boring Boycott, i was once tortured by him Barrington, Edrich and co batting for 6 hours and scoring 180 , so i much prefer modern test cricket. Thank you Brendon McCullum for showing the way.
Of course now we might lose the media will demand changes and say how rubbish we are.
I suspect the Aussies were riled by being accused of "being in disarray" and "old men on the way out"
I'm not sure you can be riled into batting well on a good pitch. More simply, I feel, two of their batsmen performed well above average, many of ours didn't. We needed to score 450 which is closer to par on this pitch, it would seem. If we had scored around 200 for the first four wickets we would probably have achieved that and saved the game.
Australia are a good team. We can't afford to underperform and, arguably, need to overperform to keep in this series.
I bet the aussies wished Anderson could bowl all day.he is getting whacked all over the place.hopefully the ball will start swinging soon so he could get a few wickets.oh wait a minute the ball was swinging when the aussies were bowling.get broad back on.at least he looks like taking a wicket.
I'm surprised, The Aussies, didn't make us follow on.
I understand that their bowlers were tired, but so was Cook, who had been batting for a day.
I reckon they could have had us about 4 down last night and probably 6 down by now.
Anyway, 5 sessions plus 10 mins, should still be enough time, to bowl us out, but if they ALL bat well, it is just possible, although very very unlikely. I think the target of 509 is probably immaterial.
There is still, absolutely nothing, in this wicket, so bowl fast and at the stumps to get an lbw or bowled, is the way to go, which they did in the first innings and we did not.
Th big difference in this Test, is that we got our bowling tactics wrong and then 4 of the top 5 batsman failed.
I have to say he doesn't look up to it. I would make a change for the next Test and put Hales there. I would also ditch the Snail and move Root up to three with Bairstow in at five. We can't do a lot worse how many times are we 30 odd for three. It can't continue it is putting too much pressure on the rest of the batting order.

However, the wicket really is doing nothing, so there is a slight chance we could hold on for the draw.
I just hope the Aussies bat on for too long (past lunch time), but they probably won't.

England need 509 to win from just over 150 overs.

I would definitely get rid.
