For anyone travelling through Kent this afternoon be prepared for a very slow journey. Operation Stack and the County Show, together with several accidents are causing gridlock.

Come to Yorkshire and save on the stress. The roads are mostly clear up here apart from the M62.

Not to mention a big tunnel queue back as far as Swanley this lunchtime.
Despite the tollbooth-free access, which we were told would "ease traffic flow and make queues a thing of the past" .
Scrap the tolls and dump all the expensive kit, then see how the traffic flow looks.

Yeah because no one can drive their cars once their wheels get nicked.
  • Yep it was bad, saw a car crashed underneath a lorry on the m25.

Actually not too far off the mark. That would be prevalent in South Yorkshire. I once had to visit a company in Thurnscoe, which is somewhere between Barnsley and Rotherham. Came out to find two lads attempting to take my alloys. When I confronted them one kept on going and the other made towards me. I had to go back into the building and make it obvious I was phoning the police. Yes, my advice is to avoid certain areas of the county though should add that Rotherham's ground is one of the best around.
Oakwell is a shit pit, but pleasant when there's a 6-0 drubbing taking place.

So you had ONE bad experience in Thurnscoe (lol) and all of a sudden it's the whole of South Yorks?

Oh and by the way roads up here aren't clear unless you in the country, in which I assume you are.

The real problem at the Dartford tunnel is the requirement for petrol tankers etc to be escorted through the tunnel.

There would be fewer hold ups if this was abandoned.

Only wide loads need to be escorted.

Yes of course, because a tanker crashes you could just send a maintainance man in there with a fire blanket and an extinguisher and it'll be out in seconds.

Why not just restrict the times that tankers can use the tunnel? They could use it during the free period of between 22:00-06:00.

Many already do - to save on the special Kent/Essex tax they'd otherwise pay. Trouble is it is chaos then too as invariably one tunnel is shut and they are dicking around with the roadworks.

You're going to have to come up with something a lot better than that to get us southerners past the Thames.

Frankly as he lives up north and supports a massive club I still worry about him, signing up to Charlton Life and contributing to a thread entitled "Traffic chaos in Kent"
I mean just how bereft of entertainment/imaginary girlfriends is he?

Delayed me in getting to the pub! Had a strong urge to blockade a French motorway by parking my Peugeot sideways!

Several pints of Kent Pale Ale later and I was more mellow about it!

Yet another day of travel problems in Kent.

Operation Stack back between Junctions 8 & 9 on M20. Also an accident between junctions 2 & 3 on the M20 and apparently blocked in both directions. This will obviously have an effect on the M2, so another wonderful day on our roads.

The joys of living and travelling in Kent! The infrastructure just cannot cope when we get a problem on any of the motorways.

    Indeed, ME14.

We're about to make an early start for Dagenham.

Just saw a body in the road on m20 going up Wrotham Hill. Hoping he's ok but reckon it might take a while to sort

Got caught up in Operation Stack on way to Belgium on Friday. As ports and Euro Tunnel were open, I'm not quite sure why?

Security at the Channel crossings must be improved. It won't be long before a terrorist tries to get into the Channel Tunnel and blows it up. If migrants can get through, so can a terrorist. We'll then be stuck with Operation Stack permanently.
