A good few haircuts back I lived in California for a couple of years. I can honestly say that I never once saw a gun (in the hands of a member of the public that is), and never heard anyone having a conversation about a firearm they may own. I also never thought about wanting to own one…..basically it never crossed my mind.
I would imagine a presidential candidate surviving a gun attack whilst stopping to raise his fist in defiance is quite a win at the ballot box... Hhmmm
Don’t give a shit what your political leanings are - no excuse to start firing at someone because you don’t agree with them.
For all the debates we had on here over the last few weeks, it makes you realise how fortunate we are to have the ability to discuss viewpoints and practice democracy as it should be

Some of the posts I've seen on social media and some of the things I've seen in a couple of WhatsApps groups I'm in are crazy. There's some really radicalised people out there.
Well if there was any doubt over the election, it's gone now. Trump will win.
Hope this incident will push the Dems to change candidate! Biden continuing as the candidate literally means handing over power to Trump.
I honestly don’t think that would change the outcome now.
Trump getting a second term is potentially a disaster for American democracy, but killing people in cold blood, or attempting to, is an absolute outrage. Even if it had been successful it would have achieved the opposite of what I assume the perpetrator intended.
First off, political violence of any kind should be condemned without hesitation!! However we now sadly live in times where 'radicals' on both sides of the political divide are getting louder and stronger. What I find ironic about this shooting is seeing some Trump supporters blaming 'unlicensed gun ownership' some even saying guns should be banned, yet Trump supports full gun ownership! A now Farage, is appearing on Kussenberg this morning at 9 am, to talk about his friend Trump, having said in the week, he is boycotting going on any BBC programme!! Unbelievable!
T-shirts of him raising his fist will appeal to his support base more than the people who need to be swayed. If Trump wins it’s not because a shooter failed, but because the Dems have.
I was on Reddit as this went down and it’s astonishing how many people were crying conspiracy or false flag. Like there needed to be an outlandish explanation for an American with a gun.
Doesn't matter what your politics are anyone wishing him dead should take a good long look at themselves. Fancy swapping places next time some nut comes along.

Interesting to see what the gun lobby propose after this?

If only there were more guns this would never have happened
Whoever took that photo is going to be insanely rich.

Sorry.....no sympathy.
Those odds seem insanely generous now.
This is one of the weird sentences I've written on here.

Edit, saw you said the don't "always" move the needle.
For what it's worth, I think this will be HUGE for him.
You'll be seeing that image of him on t-shirts by Monday morning.
