Seriously Red Bull, if you want to protest against Hamilton then leave it until AFTER Abu Dhabi... Do it beforehand, and they'll just piss him off and make it worse for themselves
I should qualify this. His response to being black and white flagged was to basically say “Fuck you, you’re not going to do anything.” to the race directors. Now, I respect someone thumbing their nose at “the man”, but his attitude is of someone who doesn’t have to follow the rules. And he keeps getting away with it. At what point are they going to make an example of him?
That was a drive that surely even the haters have to say fair play to. Similar to Verstappen’s drive in Austin, but more so.
He even got driver of the day which NEVER happens.
Obviously he had the fastest car this weekend but none the less he made the extra difference yesterday and today. A true Champion’s performance.
An excellent sporting weekend for me. England, Canada, and Charlton all win in the football, England in the Rugby and Hamilton today. Only NZ let me down in the Cricket but I didn’t really have much skin in that game.
What a performance from Hamilton this weekend. Brilliant in quali, brilliant in the sprint, brilliant in the race. I’m tired of motor racing fans being given shit for cheering on Lewis Hamilton, just because some people don’t like him. It’s no secret that I admire Hamilton as a driver and that I’d like him to win the championship again.
I’d also like Russell and Norris to do well. (That doesn’t make me a xenophobe, btw.)
I do understand that Hamilton rubs some people up the wrong way, whether that be personality or driving based - much like Vettel used to grind my gears - but it can’t be denied that he’s one of, if not the, best drivers ever. (I used to find Vettel utterly obnoxious, smug and unlikeable, but I’ve found him engaging and principled recently.)
Verstappen boils my piss more than any other driver. (Apart from Mazepin, obvs) He lacks any grace or class. He and his team whinge and whine about any perceived sleight, unfairness or decision, claiming the moral high ground, then minimise and trivialise any advantages, bad sportsmanship and rule breaking on their part. The comparison of the two incidents earlier in the year is a case in point. Two incidents, each driver marginally to blame for one, both received punishments, yet Hamilton haters continue to whine and bitch about how Hamilton “put Max into the wall”. Oh fuck off. If you’re not going to accept Max was out of order when he spun his wheels on Hamilton’s head, you can’t be outraged by a racing incident where either of them could have gone off, but it just happened to be superbrat who went off. (And all that is without going into the ludicrous claims of “disrespect” because poor baby was in hospital.) Then look at today’s race. Utterly ludicrous that he didn’t get a punishment there, (and by the way, if they’d touched there, Hamilton would probably have gone into the wall at top speed, but of course, the Hamilton haters wouldn’t see anything wrong with that) and it was all caused by Verstappen driving like a fucking brat.
Inevitably, Verstappen and Red Bull’s spin gets parroted across social media by the legions of Hamilton haters, desperate for his reign to end, yet somehow blind or apathetic to the awful prospect of putting up with this horrid, spiteful, spoilt little man dominating in the same way in the future. You may not like Hamilton, his personality or his style, and that’s fair enough. I actually think he can be a bit of a nob at times, but at least he’s got the good grace to always share the plaudits with his team when it goes right and, when appropriate, take the blame when it goes wrong.
He’s a great ambassador for the sport although, like many, he has his pet causes which not everyone will agree with. As far as I can tell, Verstappen only has one cause and that’s Max Verstappen.
I genuinely hope Verstappen matures into a driver I can respect not just for his driving, but for his influence. I just can’t see it at the moment, but then again, I once felt that way about Vettel.

How did you feel about Mazepin when he did that interview after Q1 on Friday evening @LordRomford?
Do you mean where he was close to tears after messing up? Yeah, I have a bit of sympathy for someone frustrated with himself. And fair play for taking responsibility.
But my issue with him is more about him being an awful, awful f1 driver.
He’s a danger to himself, other drivers and the sport, he’s denying a grid spot to one of the great young drivers waiting in the wings. He’s also a mysoginistic prick, so overall I do find him worse than Verstappen, because they’re both loathsome, but at least Verstappen can drive. 😎
Could Mercedes demand the steering wheel footage is reviewed? If he didn't run Lewis off the track I am a Palace fan!
Deliberate or unintentional he clearly drove him off the track.
Absolutely right. If it was unintentional, it’s because he was off the racing line and didn’t have the grip, so he pushed Hamilton off and gained the advantage. There’s just no valid reason to not penalise.
I’m starting to wonder if Horner has got Polaroids of Michael Masi with a brass.

What did you think of Barrichello?
Didn’t mind him. A bit of a number 2 driver, like Bottas. Did you find Rubens unlikeable then?
I don't see him ever leaving Red Bull purely because I don't think he'd fit in with any other teams culture, I never really understood the Max to Mercedes idea purely because I can't see Toto ever tolerating him regardless of the talent he's got.
Red Bull have created this " Team Max" dynamic where he's the golden child with no real accountability, Horner is never going to say no to anything Max wants. I wouldn't mind Red Bull getting next year's rule change very wrong despite the design chops of Adrian Newey.
A Lewis , George and Charles title battle I think would be very fun to watch.
He used to drive like a lunatic when he was younger. imo
Yeah, he was a bit wild to start with, but matured. He also wasn’t a prick as far as I can remember. He had a massive crash the same weekend Senna died and could easily have been another fatality. I remember reading that he found that whole experience devastating and struggled mentally from then on, so it’s to his credit that he had such a long and successful career after such a traumatic early experience.

It's a shame FOM took the big cheque from Abu Dhabi, I have my doubts about it even with the supposed changes actually ever producing good racing.

😂
good to see max getting booed too , rightly so
game on I reckon
Anyway enough on what a scumbag family they are…… What a driver. What a man. What a talent. Sir Lewis Hamilton - take a bow.
