There is also a big question about the pace of the Mercedes this weekend. If it is maintained, Hamilton is probably favourite and I can see Max trying to take him off. But it can change race to race as we have seen.

Lord Romfords post on Max is absolutely superb.

I don't see him ever leaving Red Bull purely because I don't think he'd fit in with any other teams culture, I never really understood the Max to Mercedes idea purely because I can't see Toto ever tolerating him regardless of the talent he's got.

Red Bull have created this " Team Max" dynamic where he's the golden child with no real accountability, Horner is never going to say no to anything Max wants. I wouldn't mind Red Bull getting next year's rule change very wrong despite the design chops of Adrian Newey.

A Lewis , George and Charles title battle I think would be very fun to watch.
    This is a great point.
Totally agree re: Mercedes, although I reckon if Ferrari get good again, he might go there in the future, but I suspect he might get a rude awakening.

The only thing that makes me possibly doubt a move to Ferrari is that I think Leclerc is there for the next 5 years or so and they seem to be preparing Mick Schumacher to be the long term teammate there , unless Carlos really gets in a title battle before 2023.

Lewis going in front of the race committee yet again in a few minutes.
Seat belt was undone when he took and was waving the Brazilian flag after the race……I kid you not!!!

  • Abu Dhabi is a day-night race right? Any idea if Qatar or Saudi Arabia are the same? High speed tracks should help Merc, higher temperatures usually helps Red Bull with tyre management, although that didn’t seem to be an issue today, perhaps because it was just generally higher degradation for everyone. Day night and lower temps would be good for Merc, I think. No altitude issues at any of the remaining races.

I think it’s still very much in the balance but Merc and Hamilton definitely have a decent chance. I’m glad the penalties for Hamilton didn’t end up deciding the championship and it was good that todays race got settled on the track, not in the pits or the Stewards’ room. I hope the next 3 races play out that way and the best team wins fair and square. I also hope that the best team proves to be Merc/Hamilton.

Yeah, can’t see how they can penalise on the track for that.

Give him a 10sec penalty, where would he end up?

Bloody impressive the stewards have managed to get images of Hamilton doing that, quicker than Verstappen's onboard ;)

Imagine what would happen if we had something like Mansell giving Senna a lift! Or even when Mansell got out of his car to try to push it over the line.

What puzzles me is in this 21st century age of great technology, they can't download the pictures that prove Max is a cheat. If I was Mercedes I would be demanding it is released.

They probably would be if Lewis hadn’t won.

  • Red Bull team boss Christian Horner said: "It was two guys racing hard. There was no contact. They both ran wide. I thought the stewards made the right decision. It would have been hard to penalise. Two drivers fighting for a world championship. It was firm but fair racing."

Wonder what he'd have said if Hamilton had done that to Verstappen?

Just copy and paste Whinger Spice’s moan after Silverstone and there you have it.

I’m a big Lewis fan, but I’ve seen him do the same to other drivers, notably Rosberg in Austria and Austin. Verstappen tried to squeeze Lewis and Lewis instead of backing off just took the long way round.

Anyway, an excellent drive from Lewis and I hope they can keep the momentum going for the last 3 races.

I think Merc took their eye off the ball for a while and were concentrating on next year’s car too much, but they seemed to have recovered well.

The funniest thing with Christian that I bet hurts his ego , outside the F1 paddock he's just a Spice Girls husband.

Big news if this is true - will the McLaren name disappear from F1?

my betting is we will see McLaren-Porsche or McLaren-Audi positioning the squad as a works team again.

This is actually a very clever move from Audi, probably cheaper than buying a new entry in the long run when you include McLaren's various other motorsports activities . I hope the McLaren name stays in the sport and Audi basically make it a works outfit with an Audi power unit.

I'd be interested to see if Audi/Porsche would have to supply another team as well if this happens.

The article suggests Porsche could be the drive train supplier for Red Bull - if so, that's the last Porsche I buy!!

I'd find that slightly perculiar given the investment into Red Bull Powertrains and signing staff from Mercedes to help set it all up.
