  • Smart work by Bairstow.

It wouldn't even have crossed my mind to do that and I don't recall ever seeing it before.

Is the rule any part of your arm then? Or for example if you're holding the ball could you head the bails off?

No, you can't head the bails off, unless the ball is in your mouth! (Actually that isn't out..)

Law 28 The Wicket is Down:
    1. Wicket put down...
(iv) by a fielder, with his hand or arm, providing that the ball is held in the hand or hands so used, or in the hand of the arm so used.

    Ta.

I suppose that was a silly question as its not like you can have the ball in one hand and knock the bails off with the other!
  • 386-9

    Sohail Khan lbw Broad 7
  • 400 all out

    Lead of 103
  • Cook is scoring his runs quickly this series.

Just under a 75 strike rate compared to a career strike rate of around 50.
  • That's a high strike rate ---- must be affiliated to the RMT
  • 50/0 - 14.2 overs

    Cook 36 (37)
    Hales 13 (50)
  • Hales could do with a decent score. If we can close the deficit without loss, we are in with a very good chance.

I don't believe in any of that. Touch wood.
  • If England wins this then I expect some grovelling from Covered End tbh
  • Right now, it's...

    ENG 30.8%
    Draw 37.3%
    PAK 31.9%

You'll have a long wait, as the deficit was only 103, not 150.
  • It might be instructive to read our exchange as it was worded at the time :p
  • Backtrack klaxon!

    ENG 32.6%

  • Effectively 4/0 at the moment. Good start this. A target of over 220 would be nice.

Anything within a 150 lead and England are playing to win

There's more chance of RD selling Charlton before xmas, than England winning this game with a 150 run first innings deficit.
We will never know if England would have played to win with a 150 deficit.

I said the above and once again, we'll never know as there wasn't a 150 run deficit.

I grant you I could have added that England may be in with a good shout, if they could limit the deficit to only 103.

Much over I'd hope, good batting deck, flat as a road.

Cook really steaming on in a hurry, nice to see them put on a more than decent opening partnership
  • Well it's not easy but I reckon if anyone can start tomorrow as if they had 0 and it was their first ball it's Cook. (Risks kiss of death)
  • CricViz are predicting England will make 452 all out and Pakistan will finish on 261-9, for a nail-biting draw.
  • Our best hope it to bat all day...get a lead of circa 280. Put them in for the last few overs.

Nice to see cook scoring some runs. What a player he is

Odds, according to the market, are nearer:

    England 41.0%
    Draw 50.3%
    Pakistan 8.7%

    Great fightback by England.
As a last minute thing, i'm off to Edgbaston tomorrow !!
Always enjoy Edgbaston- a great crowd.
  • Very jealous, Mr President! Promises to be a cracking days play.

I love the way test cricket swings back and forth, it is still the pinicle of cricket. Hopefully we can see out the first hour or so, then go on to get a total that puts us on the front foot.

I wish I'd been more forthright in my stating-the-bloomin-obvious
  • I wasn't looking forward to this series a month ago but I've got a lot of time for Pakistani cricket now. This has been the most fun to watch since the Kiwi's last rocked up.
  • On the Megabus on my way to Brum - was a 5am start !
    Megabus is really good !
