  • One benchmark of wages we have is that the scout role was advertised at between £50-60,000
  • If JJ gets the job then that will be the final nail in the coffin for me, as he clearly is the only person British they could get to be a puppet.

I think there are more who would be a puppet but Roland's thinking will be that this will be popular among fans and sell season tickets
Do you really think Roly ever cares what the fans think or want?
  • ''They won't employ a manager until july to save on salary.''
    (Brilliant comment from above)

Mate knowing this lot they wont sign a manager
until Christmas to save more money!
  • "Terms" doesn't necessarily mean wages. Could also mean control.
  • Maybe he gets a big house as part of his contract with Rochdale. I've worked there and it's a shithole, would imagine the rents are about 30 quid a week for a five bedroom with large garden.

According to a journo up north , we couldn't/wouldn't even match Rochdale's Keith Hills salary/deal

He probably only earns about £75k a year as well.
Which is more than Luzon was on
Christ! He was on less than that?

Around £50k, according to someone who was working for the club at that time.

I've heard 3 figures from different people. One said "fifty-something" and two have said £70k

Either way - less than you'd think is the going rate for a championship manager

    Where did you see/hear that?
Alan Nixon/@reluctantnicko (the guy who broke the news we were after James Henry last summer)

In a conversation with a Charlton fan

@HarryEllis_CAFC Looked like Hill on Wednesday. Shocked they could not match his Rochdale terms
    Oh ok cheers.
If that IS the case, then it's clearly a case of WOULDN'T match his Rochdale wages, not couldn't.

Surely this is the crux of the matter alongside their reluctance to hand over 100% to a manager/coach ?

This is why I hope no-one accepts the job & they're forced to turn to the good old network yet again ....

I can't understand why we wouldn't view this as another victory - apart from the inevitable setback for our club in general as per last season . However, I'd view this as short term pain for a long term gain in my scenario.

Yet another recipe for disaster and there must be a limit to how many of those the regime can deal with. Even Mary Berry would struggle to turn that one around !

Ramp up the pressure on a weakened, stuttering set up ; hone in on their failure to "tempt" a British/experienced guy after all the promises to learn from previous mistakes and brick by brick , the crumbling edifice will collapse.

As long as this goes t*ts up from day 1 of the new season, there'd be plenty of time for rebuilding under a new owner and new manager of course. And then , the way forward , or rather onwards & upwards, can begin.

    Simples.

Do you know what (and this is probably the wine talking), I actually want them to appoint Nobby Vinegar and have done with it.
Why pussyfoot around with somebody with a modicum of talent and knowledge of the league, when it will just muddy the waters for a while.
Whatever small successes they may achieve, ultimately they are going to run up against the eccentricities and conceit of this regime and be forced to cut corners and make excuses.
Let's stare the enemy in the face and try and bring this to head.
Now pass me that bottle will ya.
    In vino veritas, mate !

  • My old manager from my Sunday pub team would be a good call ,good motivator( always let you have a ciggie at half time).Bob Spear , with JJ as his assistant.Spear and Jackson

  • The Spear & Jackson double tool team and their 'ciggy at half time' approach is the most credible option I have heard so far but old Bob could be out of our price range if he is already a recognised talent at Sunday league level..

Any Belgian connections we know of?

We'd be digging a hole for ourselves with that pairing.

    Hoe, hoe, hoe!
  • So when are we getting a manager then?

Perhaps we're going to pioneer a new way of running a team... without a manager.

Not today is the strong rumour from those ITK
  • There is no rush. Results have been much better since Riga left.

We are going to take the successful Spanish tactic a couple of steps further down the road and play with a false no. manager. Or have we already tried that with Carol?
  • The daft bint wants to pick the team.

He never moved south and always worked up north the question is length of contract not wages there not a problem ..... He wants 3 year deal we offered 18 months ..... again it's the whole family thing he wants it worth while in up rooting his family ....

Nothing to do with money .....
Do you genuinely believe the things that you make up?

Where do you get off , making this crap up? Or did the GK coach/inside source tell you this again...

And once again , you've plagiarised "ketts"!
