Maybe Colin gets some masochistic need fulfilled by posting and getting grief. Charlton Life posters get to vent their spleen on Colin, which spares the partners at home. It acts as a kind of pressure valve on the site as well as Colin brings everyone together in agreement that they are generally speaking rubbish or laughing at Colin at attempting to pass off information posted elsewhere as a special source.

It is also possible to just ignore Colin 1961's Prozac Persil spin on everything Charlton.

Myself, I try to ignore it, as a thread can get taken over by the whole thing.
  • Great another day of bulls shit from Colin the know it all cock

Great another day of bulls shit from Colin the know it all cock

I just spent two weeks away filming with some brilliant talented learning disabled actors and performers who know how to treat each other with fairness and dignity in an incredibly challenging environment. I come on here and this is what you get.

    Colin can't help it though.

Being serious the first post where he credits a source and doesn't paraphrase ends with an ott response, he can't win.
  • Can't we all just ignore the shit and get on with whatever else shit might be occurring?

It is so boring reading reams n reams of people slagging off each other,or one person in particular, for the one aim of point scoring.....

    With love.

    Me xx

Hill ruled out of the running for Blackburn job according to Sky

Russell Slade is wanted by managerless duo Blackburn Rovers and Charlton Athletic, reports the Lancashire Telegraph.

The paper says the former Cardiff City boss has already had an interview for the Ewood Park gig, although there is also interest for his services from League One Charlton.

Slade isn't the only candidate in the running to succeed Paul Lambert at Rovers, as Manchester United U21 manager Warren Joyce has also had talks with Blackburn's Indian owners the Venky's.

But the Lancashire Telegraph are ruling out a host of other names previously linked with the job, including Alan Stubbs, Craig Hignett, Gareth Ainsworth, Neil Redfearn, Billy Davies and Keith Hill.

Read all of this yesterday, keep up Colin
    I didn't. Thanks Colin

  • So, let me get this right, Colin1961 is now installed a favourite for the managerial post! Well, as he seems to be the only person mentioned in the past couple of pages you might just think so.

    Please change the record.
  • Not sure if this has been posted already but JJ is now 4/7 on this morning with SkyBet, Slade is 5/4 and then the next one is Adkins at 12/1.

I thought JJ was talking like the next coach at the POTY dinner.

If you listen to the podcast (from about 1 hour 48 minutes 27 seconds ) he mentions the fact that he has an important role in advising the club of players coming in and going out. He says that ‘given the opportunity there is a massive job for him to build towards.

I’m not so keen on the ‘go between’ role he talks about though, we need someone to stamp out their authority over the despot
  • Agree with what Seth Plum posted.
  • Having seen some of the managers we have been linked with I think Jacko wouldn't be a bad idea.

If he has a good team around him, then it would.be a good move. At least he knows all that is rotten in the club, probably knows how to deal with KM and RD and at least knows the players in this and the division above to bring in.

The fans would also give him.a chance.

  • Not sure how tactically astute JJ would be as a manager. Would he be able to change the game by bringing G on that sub and changing formation to rip them apart? Or to stop them ripping us apart?

  • Agreed. I Think the only reason he is being linked is the board think that appointing jj will sell season tickets
  • I would also ask if Jacko has the right coaching badges to run a team. Anyone within the football industry wouldnt take a phone call from the club at the moment. The same situation as a championship club based up north was and still is in.
  • We are being knocked back either because of wages, terms, club reputation, or the stupid approach by this regime. Does not look like we are much of a prospect, more like a plan C for prospective managers.
Jacko will be a desperation appointment both for the regime and for Jacko. The only way it could be acceptable is 50 points by the end of January, plus still being in all cups, and the division wrapped up by mid April.

To do that the regime will need to spend big and support thoroughly, given our experience so far it ain't gonna happen.
  • I have no knowledge of anything here but can't understand why so many people are suggesting JJ when Simon Clark is still here, isn't he? Not that I'm suggesting either of them but it might end up at that the way it is going.
  • The more I think about, jj would be another network appointment. It would be his first job and would do what he is told to a certain degree! If we have to have another internal appointment, go do ckarke because in a years time we would still have fond memories of jj
  • Eddie Howe was younger when he became a manager but he was a coach first. JJ is a great leader on the pitch and in the dressing room, we play a better more determined game when he is out there and able to lead by example, however this doesn't mean he will be able to do the same as a manager. Currently he is one of the lads and he would have to put some distance between himself and his colleagues if he were to take up the poison chalice.

I am not saying he couldn't do the job but think he would be mad to take it, if the owners backed their managers and the whole club was united I would say go for it, but as it stands he should politely defer (if he is offered the job).
  • Appointing Jacko would be an admission of failure on a monumental scale. Proof that this madcap regime don't understand football and underestimate every single aspect of what's needed to run a football club. Proof that they don't learn from previous errors and proof that they are not fit to be anywhere near our club.

Jackson is well aware of how the fans feel and without doubt knows what a precarious position Roland's ownership has placed the club. I do wonder if JJ almost feels obliged to step up to the plate if approached ? I'm not sure he would be able to stand by and watch Nobby V be given the job.

I hope that one of the names from Adkins or Slade can be persuaded but if it does come down to Jackson then there are positives to be taken.

The fans will unite behind him which won't happen with any of the other potential candidates. We know JJ will give it his all and league one is a division where new coaches can cut their teeth with some success. The league one playoff final yesterday was contested by Harris and Heckingbottom who were both first season managers. It's not all doom and gloom if Johnnie gets the job.

Ideally of course this further debacle nudges the door to Duchatelet selling up a little further open.
  • Having seen some of the managers we have been linked with I think Jacko wouldn't be a bad idea.

The fans would also give him.a chance.

He would become another victim of the Belgians.
  • Another manager in Division two has been contacted regarding the vacancy at the club twice and has turned it down twice due to the insecurity and the way the club gets rid of managers.
The club is totally toxic and the fact we cannot attract managers means it will make our dealings harder within the transfer market as a player will be keen to know that the manager sees him in his plans.
The only way this club will now move forward is to have a new owner or CEO.

    Who was the manager?
