Salary, length of contract, control are all issues for any potential manager. The real problem is that imo Duchatelet sees the manager / head coach role as entirely disposable and has bought into the philosophy that a change of manager boosts results. It's all part of his flawed strategy.

in the case of Hill he is very popular at Spotland and his family is settled, for him to leave and move south of course he will want the security of a 3 year contract, 18 months is no good to him at all, if the club won't give him 3 years then he stays and maybe gets offered a shorter contract at another northern club or stays where he is.
