YSY would be a decent signing at this level, can play left midfield as well as left back, and fits the mould of Slade liking an out and out winger on one side and a more traditional wide midfielder on the other. Won't happen though.
I would like to keep THD but there is something that isn't clicking, whether it's he expects to play more, Slade doesn't think he's good enough or whatever, a move to a club a league above us is a no brainer.
We don't know do we? And we don't know how much Huddersfield are offering. We don't know if THD is keen to go and his agent has been drumming up a move but the bid is totally unsolicited on the club's part. We don't know if KM or Slade have been talking to THD to try and convince him to stay. Likewise we don't know if the club has been actively seeking a purchaser. We don't know if there's been a fall out and Slade wants rid. We don't know what the club has up its sleeve in terms of a replacement.
One thing we do know, permission to talk is not the same as a done deal.
What annoys me is people talk about transfer fees and that we can't expect much as we are League 1 now, well so are Oxford and they sold a player for more than twice as much as we did Cousins and nearly as much as Burnley paid for Pope and JBG combined.
I have commented on THD from time to time, often suggesting he is more of a midfielder than a left back. I say this because he has Cousins-like application and energy, a work ethic that is best utilised if he is constantly involved rather than the relative solitude at left back. We are losing a good young player, and the aspiration still seems to be to plug the gaps with cheap old mercenaries whose best days are long gone. Still these jokers are learning from their mistakes so that's OK.

It is shortterm money saving over long term planning and expenditure.
Chris Burke would be a great signing at this level... Charlie Mulgrew wouldnt be a bad signing either as looking at his Wiki page he can play CM / CB / LB so would certainly be the utility type player that is useful in any squad
Agree. Both Mulgrew and Burke would be good signings.
Slade did say he only wanted player who wanted to wear the shirt, as has been said it was reported that last season THD was not happy with CAFC. He was used a a sub on Saturday, perhaps that was a make or break appearance for Slade and ended as a break.
I wouldn't have thought anybody is forcing THD to go. If he wants to leave and feels his chances of first team football or even more money mean a move, then so be it.
Slade is very naive to come out with statements like 'no more significant players leaving' etc. Ultimately with this mob if an OK bid came in for ANY of our players they'd accept it in a heart beat, making RS look a mug

Plus with a squad our size, any player is significant. At least we might have some rumours of players signing for the next week before we are told we have enough.
These jokers need to jog on so there can finally be a sense of optimism around the club.

If we do want a creative, goal-scoring midfielder and have a bit of money available to do something, Cameron McGeehan from Luton would be a good option. A player who is destined for the Championship but might, at this stage, be an achievable target for us at the moment if we wanted to do it.
The sort of player we could probably get for £1m and see his value increase.
THD isn't a key player. Sell a back up that'll never play and replace him with a decent free, then use the fee to fill other more needed positions. Slade isn't stupid. He's done ok so far.

I would agree with you if this is what I could see happening. We won't instead we will make do with what we have and sign no one else. No free left back, no transfer fees, no loans, NO ONE AT ALL
I believe he wants first team football and isn't getting it with us. Shame - he's got a superb left peg and pace to burn. I think he'll turn out pretty decent
If he can't get in front of Fox, I'm not sure he'll be more successful at Hudds.
What bothers me is that the crackpots who run our club might think we are ok because we have won a couple of games on the bounce and are 5th. It is like they don't understand that the season is long and demanding!!!!!! This time last year they were probably congratulating each other! Hadn't we just beaten Hull to go second?

Now THD has been sent on his way to raise a few shekels, where's that creative midfielder that Mr Slade is hopeful of signing?
Look how patient we are
