RS - quite liked him, a billion times better than any previous press conference for our new managers employed by this mob, just compare it Luzon's 'I like to win' attempt. He speaks eloquently and says the right things so good luck to him. My only reservation is that if you painted his face green he would indeed look like a Brussels sprout.
RD - Same as ever except a sly dig at fans. Get over yourself.
KM - looks tired and stressed, can't be good for her health, the sparkle has well and truly gone from her eyes which now have huge bags below them, and this is the off season! What is she still doing here, for her own sake she needs to go. Daft comments about Varney, usual guff about how much she believes in the new boss, has learnt from mistakes, wanting new beginnings etc, she doesn't believe any of it herself IMO.
I know they have fallen out but as KM made the Varney comments I half expected RM to head butt the table, put his head in his hands, turn to her and say 'not again, I'm out of here', but nothing.
I would suggest any dialogue between the parties would have been subject to specific or implied confidentiality agreements. As such the details of any of the proposals cannot be put in the public domain without the specific sanction of the other party.
Whether the assertion made by Ms.Meire was fabricated or not she makes specific reference to proposals involving Mr Varney.
Public reference to such proposals without his prior sanction breaches the confidentiality of any of the dialogue held between Mr Varney as the representative of other parties and M. Duchatelet.
As such he is now free to reveal the contents of the nature of the dialogue with M. Duchatelet.
Mr Varney has played it with a very straight bat. He has given Ms.Meire the opportunity to retract.
Personally I would asked for a formal public apology to go with it.
In all honesty in terms of business practice it does not get more basic than this. For a legally qualified CEO to blunder into such a space is extraordinary.
It is very apparent that neither Ms Meire or Mr Murray can get past the treatment they have been subjected to over the past few months.
They are determined to deem their treatment as personal completely ignoring the fact such treatment has arisen from their abysmal professional performance.
Why else would you try to make such a reference to such an issue at the very time you are supposedly trying to move forward?
M. Duchatelet in the name of humanity I strongly suggest you put this poor woman out of her misery and find her a role more appropriate to her talents. The CEO role is simply too much for her and it is becoming too painful to observe.
May I also politely suggest you also ask Mr Murray to step aside. It is apparent he no longer has any meaningful contribution to make to the club. His continued presence will only continue to detract from the goodwill many including me held for him in the distant past.
PS - For those suggesting Mr Varney actually sue for breach you would have to determine and substantiate the damages attributable to such breach. In the current situation that would be extremely difficult unless specific financial penalties were included in the confidentiality agreement, which is unlikely in what primarily would likely be merely outline proposals /discussions.
Mr Varney is pursuing precisely the right course of action - in the Court of Public Opinion,
After they didn't get Wilder, it must have been a pretty difficult time for Katrien. I'm sure after a few weeks she'll be back with an inappropriate level of smirk.
Murray does look bitter though and I would recommend having a Murray balloon to go with the Roland balloon. Both can be symbolically pelted with rotten tomatoes and other refuse prior to every home game.
Something you would call a housing development that, for sure.
This mans intentions are tax avoidance and income from other streams, hotels and housing and such. Can offset taxes on the losses of the Club also, lower league helps him.. He needs us as fans to just be quiet and accept, so we need to do the polar opposite.
If she gets sued and loses, which presumably he's confident she would otherwise he'd not have called her bluff, then I think her University should reconsider that 'top lawyer' award or whatever it was they gave her, because, er, this is not very top...

I doubt PV has any intention of getting this to court.
He's threatened that she retract or he publishes evidence to prove what she has said is not true.
In either case it's a monumental foot in mouth moment for Meire and hugely embarrassing whether she retracts or PV publishes.
Under any normal circumstances it should spell her end but I'm not holding my breath.

Duchatelet is supremely arrogant.
As AB has eluded to, and it is has been my opinion for a little while now, the guy is clearly a runway short of an airport. He has no skillset (other than an abundance of money, and an ability to make money) - makes decisions out of the norm, and wants to use CAFC as his little plaything - to see if he can find a different way of doing it. Other than arrogance, he continues to stay away from the limelight and has no wish to confront the peasants. I read somewhere that there is a belief he is Autistic - maybe somebody a bit cleverer than myself could piece his actions together with that condition.
If my business had gone up in value by 20% in the last 3 months, I might be getting a bit above myself as well.
(Trying to get access to Melexis I bought two shares in March at EUR 46 and now worth EUR 57, I think Roland owns between 10m and 20m shares so he's now worth EUR 100m - 200m more than he was in March).
Buy a new pair of shoes mate and either invest in your football hobbies or sell them.
All that has happened today is that my loathing of Meire and disgust at Murray has increased. They probably can do nothing to change my views - too much water under the bridge - but that said they really aren't helping themselves. Can only assume they hope that we will buy all this "fresh start, British manager" stuff and be nice to them come August.
We have two months to make sure the new sofa is destroyed before the opening match.
There isn't a new sofa. It's the fetid remains of the old sofa.
Can we spend two months working out how to not pay to get into the ground but still support the new manager and his team (if they look promising) while still trying to get RD, KM, TK and RM to hand over to people who have a basic human decency and the possibility of succeeding?
This tax loss thing, if you make a loss, and you get 20% tax relief, you still have to fund 80% of the loss.
Tax losses are not a sign of a good business.
It's not a sign of a good business but it takes 20% off losses away from the running of the club. If he can lower wages, keep ticket sales and then get player sales he will be able to run (or hope to) at a very small loss or break even and that leaves him the ground he owns to profit from, housing developments, renting the training ground facility out etc etc.
If this wasn't the case he would be long gone from our Football Club. What makes this so tough is football is secondary to him.
If a new sofa is sitting in that corner for the first game at the Valley next season that would be the biggest f*** you to the fans so far, a real petty and pathetic thing to do, so I am sure KM has already ordered one in for August.
I think it still leaves him with a quite substantial loss.
Last year must have been hugely off break even with the increased steward costs, the interim appointments of crisis communication guys, reduced merchandise, increased player costs due to being right in the shit, increased manager costs for paying Riga out early etc
Next year with loss of sponsors, reduced season ticket sales, further loss of merchandise, it doesn't matter how much we sell people for, it's still going to be a whopping loss of money. A loss that was avoidable before KM, but which is now inevitable.
If my business had gone up in value by 20% in the last 3 months, I might be getting a bit above myself as well.

20%? bloody amateur! My sole share (£1) in my company has gone up a couple of 1000% in the last two months...
You touch on something interesting I was pondering today though, we commonly hear Roland referred to as a "billionaire" and it always get corrected to millionaire - to the tune of approximately EUR500,000,000. Does this take in to account his shares?
When you purchased your shares I began tracking them on my phone and - as clueless as I am - I've been pretty impressed. As you say, 10-20,000,000 shares rising by 20% in 3 months equals a huge gain in his personal wealth. It's not unfathomable to think he has fingers in other ventures too. Although it's not cash in the bank, it's an asset and something of monetary value that he can realise should he need.

I am very late to this party, but I've been involved in many, many negotiations that involve all kinds of NDA's (Non-Disclosure Agreements). The answer is, in theory, yes. However, given what Varney has said about their refusal to meet, and given in my experience NDA's can take weeks to finalize (oftentimes completely unnecessary, but that's another story), it might be that they didn't even get to this stage in negotiations.
I'm not entirely clear on what has and has not been discussed between the parties, I'm not sure if any of us are (and if it's in this discussion I'm apologize I'm PWR beyond page 2). But I suspect negotiations are relatively preliminary, again going on the refusal to meet. So it's entirely conceivable to me that whatever has been discussed has been done so without an NDA in place. Again not all that uncommon, there is usually an element of "here's what we're thinking, are you interested?" involved before you get the lawyers involved. Keeping such things secure and secretive is oftentimes done on a level of professional trust, which of course is where this broke down.
After reading about the presser this morning, I proceeded to go about my day working and helping a mate move, only to come back to this bloody insanity at 5pm in the evening. Absolutely mental. For all of the things said about Meire, the thing that gets under my skin is the amateurism and rank unprofessionalism. It's like starting a powerpoint with "I thought we already went through this." To be clear, this is not "running a club like a business," this is running a club by people completely lacking business and PR sense.
I'm sure that she will apologise & excuse it by saying she was misinformed ....................... possibly by the trust guys after one of their meetings with RD

can I put in a vote for @Grapevine49 for chairman?
Both her an Murray look scarred by the abuse they've been getting. Murray looks bitter and Meire kind of broken.

They announce Slade and talk of new beginnings, yet hours later KM says something completely irrelevant and another lie.
I don't think you could give this club to David Brent and he make a shitter job of it
