I also said Giroud was frustrating. 3 minutes before he scored his goal. I know nothing about football.
To be fair to you, he really is frustrating. An Arsenal ST holder friend of mine, absolutely hates him - purely because he has the ability but just doesn't show it enough. Poor mans Makeniok.
He played at The Valley at the beginning of the season and I'm sure most people me included didn't know who he was.
Always heard of him, surprised a top team didn't take a gamble on him beforehand but Wet Spam'll do well to keep him now.
Problem France seem to have is they have a couple of players who seem to lose their heads, Evra had a massive brain fart and the likes of Giroud and Koscielny look like sending offs waiting to happen

I agree really. Thought the one he scored was one of the hardest of his chances this evening.
An entertaining opening match but I feel the hosts will need to improve defensively if they have any hope of winning it all.
Two early corners had them scrambling and only a point blank Lloris save spared their blushes in the opening 10 mins. Evra was caught out a number of times before he gave away the penalty and owes Payet a drink for the two points he rescued with that brilliant goal.
Going forwards France looked dangerous. Pogba perhaps tried to do too much on his own at times and Payet should have been given the opportunity to come inside more often earlier in the game. Griezmann was particularly frustrating tonight when I half expected him to take control of the game as he has done in Madrid this year.
Despite all the criticism I felt Giroud did a good job leading the line. A couple of last ditch tackles prevented him from breaking the deadlock earlier and he kept the CBs busy freeing up space between a high defensive line and the DM.
What was that opening ceremony? I know it's not the World Cup or the Olympics, and I appreciate that they had to clear the pitch and that it was still daylight, but bloody hell you'd have thought that with the world watching and an entire nation's resources they'd have come up with something more entertaining than that. An over-hyped dj and some ladygirls with balloons and fake lollipops; bring on the marching band that's what I say. Only, even that was a disappointment and didn't march, as it happens. Man alive, when we had an opening ceremony, we even managed to gift Wet Sham a new stadium, but they're using one that's 20 years old. I've seen better tournament openings watching Martin Toal sing Liverpool songs in front of the Covered End.
ITV. Same old shit, they never get it right. The one thing I'd say in their favour is that at least the young lad Hoddle is coming good. It's taken a quarter of a century of on-off punditry, but at last he can say something sensible, in a convincing voice, without inducing a coma into half of the viewers. Well done Glenn, hang on in there I think you might make a half decent second-career out of this.
The match: Comme ci comme ça is, I believe, the French phrase for things like this. Dull at times but not all bad. Not exactly riveting, but more exciting than anything that's been seen in SE7 since the idiots took over. France were clearly the better team, they had some neat passing and found some good angles. Despite having France as one of my teams on the work place non-sweep sweep, I found my self warming to Romania in a strange way. Can't quite put my finger on it - perhaps the way that they conspired to miss the two best chances or the fact that they rarely looked good enough but hung in there for most of the match. It's a pity they didn't lose 3-0, then I could have really got behind them.
That goal. Absolutely sublime. The way he turned, found the space between the defenders and the top corner of the net with barely a glance. That is something else. Very pleased for him, I just hope he moves on to another team where I can appreciate him more next season.
France kind of as expected, good in attack, less convincing at the other end. Didn't expect Payet to play such a pivotal role for them, if he keeps that up we'll be able to add him to Gazindex.
Romania were a bit hard done by. Hope they can perform like that in their next 2 games, always had a soft spot for them since Hagi in USA 94.
