Jordan Cousins to QPR (gone, confirmed)

I agree with all of this but I would add that I suspect that KM's performance negotiating with other CEOs is costing us a lot less than her negotiating with Players Agents!Henry Irving said:
I think what Airman is saying that we had another 6 weeks to find a better deal but KM took the money know rather than risk getting nothing and having Cousins wages on the books next season.cabbles said:If you look at the bigger picture, it's the relegation that has led to this sale. Cousins has every right to ask to leave. He'll be of the belief he is better than league one, and I would agree with him. If we hadn't have had such a disaster of a season, then we may still have had Cousins playing with us, we may have also got a better fee if we'd have narrowly missed out on the play offs say.
As it is, if what Airman says is correct about the 3m initial asking price, then I don't see there is much more the club could've done. They started at what they thought he was worth, didn't get much interest, so lowered accordingly. Seems to me the market dictated the price for Cousins in this instance, not the club
It is a risk and one that could have backfired if we hadn't sold Cousins and kept an unhappy player who didn't fit into the budget but it is also one that might have yielded a bigger fee in a few weeks time.
That risk is the same for all clubs and all CEOs but given KM's terrible track record (1.4E and a five year deal for Sarr, loaning instead of selling Watt and him them coming back with his wages, not being able to sell Reza so he came back with his wages, etc etc) I'd lean towards KM panicking and selling too soon.
Hopefully this might mean Roland will finally wake up to how far out of her depth she is and how she is laughed at and taken for a ride by other CEOs but I doubt it. She'll spin the story that Colin is spinning above to Roland. She's most likely telling him ST sales are good and that there is always a last minutes rush of 4k too. One day he'll lose patience with her and get rid.2 -

http://www.southlondonpress.co.uk/article.cfm?id=119145&headline=Jordan Cousins: Charlton finally back to normal under Russell Slade - I hadn't had that feeling in so long&sectionIs=sport&searchyear=2016colin1961 said:
The midfielder, 22, joined QPR on a three-year deal on Wednesday evening.
QPR have paid £1.5million - with add-ons potentially taking the deal up to £2m as well as a substantial sell-on clause.1 -
A good & promising interview by Cousins.0

Mmmm. I thought he said 'if this group of clowns wasn't running the club and hadn't sacked Powell, I would probably still be with you if the owners really had premiership ambitions. The don't, I've had a bad time over the last couple of years and the unnecessary relegation was the last straw, I'm off.
Lads may be able to get Charlton back to where it was before the regime started, looks good.
Thanks, bye.'3 -
Just read in the SLP about Aaron Tshibola’s move from Reading to Aston Villa. Similar age, both midfielders, but the fee for Tshibola is rumoured to be £5m, ie the same as we got for Cousins, JBG, Pope and Henderson put together. That is absolutely criminal!!6

One major difference. Reading are run by normal people.Rizzo said:Just read in the SLP about Aaron Tshibola’s move from Reading to Aston Villa. You really can't read anything into declared transfer fees, we don't disclose, QPR maybe disclosing without add ons and Reading / Villa maybe declaring with add ons or the discrepancies maybe right.Rizzo said:Just read in the SLP about Aaron Tshibola’s move from Reading to Aston Villa. The alleged £900,000 for Pope is excellent, plus there are add ons allegedely or it may be tosh and he has gone for £900 .. we really don't know.
Allegedly JBG only signed last season if we included a non promotion clause, so is £2.5 million good business because we kept him for another season, or bad business because we could have sold him last summer with a year on his contract. Cousins if it is £1.5 m seems low, but someone I know in football told me that his lack of goal depressed his value.
Published transfer fees are rubbish and we should not read anything into them1 -
Interview with Sky with a bit of mention of how it was a Charlton last few years.

Feel sad, as I often did in the past when good young Chalrton players moved on. But also ashamed to read what he says about the club I support, which is quite new and unpleasant. I think I would have to go back to Eamonn Dunphy's autobio to find similar shame-inducing words; and anyway Eamonn Dunphy is a ----.roseandcrown said:Interview with Sky with a bit of mention of how it was a Charlton last few years.

Just another bitter ex-employee of our wonderfully run football club1
-
Not long been on as a sub for QPR. Just won a penalty.6
-
Slotted straight in and made a difference. His work rate is superb.
Will very soon be a regular starter for QPR.....5 -
He has. They have some really good midfielders. Should do well this season.4
-
Very typical performance for Jordan. Played out of position as a right midfielder. Gave the ball away in possession but more than made up for it by being aggressive defensively and drew a penalty by intelligently stopping with the ball and letting the defender run him over5

Well done lad...at least we get to say we saw a star of the championship play for us at the valley.8

Pitted against Shelvey, with predictable results6

Wow, Newcastle 6-0 up at QPR. That's the same score as Barca against Celtic

Sorry Barca 7-0 up now!0 -
Was mentioned he was a 'special player' earlier in this thread. He's an okay player with a good work rate6
-
Except this is the one area of the team we need to improve on. Of all our key players who have moved on Cousins is the one we really haven't replaced yet.cabbles said:Was mentioned he was a 'special player' earlier in this thread. He's an okay player with a good work rate

Jordan will be warming the bench at QPR very soon like Harriott is at Reading.2

Why do some people on here dislike Jordan cousins so much, QPR get hammered and its all down to him14
-
No idea. He gave his all for us for 3 seasons ; tremendous energy and commitment . Many criticise because he doesn't pass like Claus Jensen ; the same people that criticise Claus for not tackling, probablyJohnnysummers5 said:Why do some people on here dislike Jordan cousins so much, QPR get hammered and its all down to him
